    Affordable housing?

There are houses in nearby Andover descibed as ‘affordable’ with plans afoot to build several hundered more for first time buyers like my partner and myself.

We are both in full time employment but because we’ve had to rent for years we haven’t been able to build up a reasonable level of savings.

The maximum we can get a mortgage for is £90,000.

These ‘affordable’ houses start at £100,000.

    Affordable for who?

    School leavers with no savings?

University leavers with debt of £25,000+?

People like myself who lose 80% of their monthly wage renting a house and paying somebody elses mortgage?

    😮

I poliely suggested to my better, well other half if we could watch Dambusters this afternoon to be greeted with cries of “Dambusters is RUBBISH!” and a couple of rude words spoken about the brave boys of ’43.

    😡

Slightly OT but after President Carter cancelled the B-1, GD came up with a proposal to stretch the fb-111a into the FB-111h and arm it with additional SRAM missiles in the bomb bay and also externally on the fuselage.

Did the RAF ever consider doing the same with the Tornado, stretching it, giving it more range and carrying Storm Shadows with WE-177 warheads, making it a semi strategic bomber?

    d

They streched the GR1 to allow for the carrying of 4 Skyflash as the F3 so I guess they could have and fitted larger A2G munitions and had a GR4 15 years ago.

I fail to understand the extent of your vitreol about this. It was just a harmless little joke, and quite an imaginative and creative one at that. Actually, I’m quite impressed with it, myself. I can’t imagine how you’d react if someone did something REALLY heinous, like telling you that WWE professional wrestling is all staged, or giving you fries instead of onion rings with your burger.

What do you mean? It IS all real!

    Isn’t it…?

    Please tell me it is!

    It can’t be faked.

It looks real, surely that’s enough?

    Brits addicted to junk food

    No!

Brits are addicted to laziness, instead of spending time in the kitchen cooking a meal they would phone up local pizza/burger etc delivery and eat that.

    Much easier.

Alternatly they could buy the Microwave in 5 minute meals, for a change.

    Buccaneer….Aren’t we getting one?

zero feet….Wouldn’t that be a crash?

full reheat….Not unless they retro fitted afterburners!

    mach 1….Wishfull thinking.

Sorry:( coat on, door hitting ar3e on way out :p :p .

    John.

OK, so full reheat was a bit of a dream but with a top speed of 645mph at 200 ft I would have thought it could hit mach 1 at 25,000 ft…?

My immediate impression on seeing this picture is that it is a digitally produced fake.

If you look at the starboard wing of the Bulldog and more noticably the Hunter you can see a shadow on the edges of the aircraft not showing on the other two.

This implies the original pictures those aircraft were scanned was taken in bright sunshine yet the pictures of the Lightening and the Hurricane were taken on a darker day.

Although the Bulldog is flying closest to the camera the aircraft still looks out of scale compared to the other three, particularly the Hurricane.
