Moggy as you are involved with Nissan, any idea why they changed their name from Datsun many moons ago?
From Wiki:
On March 20, 2012, Nissan announced a plan to revive Datsun as a low-cost marque, 31 years after removing it from its line-up. The Japanese carmaker said the brand’s reputation for value and reliability would help it in emerging markets. Datsun models will be sold in Indonesia, Russia and India from 2014. Nissan has not decided where the Datsun-branded cars will be produced, but a spokesman said that it was likely to be in Asia.
It seems they’ll be back in a couple of years…
I was speaking with somebody who works at Boscombe Down yesterday and he told me the Tonkas are due to be retired in 2014 (not 2019) but as their replacement isn’t due to enter service until 2020 he said there is a very real chance that we will be getting F18s to fill the gap.
Just a few from a cracking airshow on Sunderland seafront. Mostly from the Saturday, but a few from the Sunday.
Phwoar!
The Bell 212 at Middle Wallop.
Was The Eagle pub, Cambridge featured in the film The Battle of Britain?
A few from me 🙂 weather not great.:) Onward 🙂
It looks like it could still get the job done today!
Is Sally B painted with Memphis Belle on her starboard side?
I saw them recently at Yeovilton and felt although the proximity of the aircraft to each other was incredible the display in general seemed to lack something. I can’t explain it but there didn’t seem to be the ‘wow’ factor you’d normally associate with the Red Arrows display.
If RAF had got the TS….
I visited Dunsfold Airfield earlier today and saw what I’m sure was a Hawker Hunter T7 wearing the ETPS scheme on the other side of the airfield (too far away to see for sure) and at 1500 I drove past Blackbushe and saw the large number of aircraft based there all parked up.
I thought the Luftwaffe were the first to use the standard drop tank, on Bf 109Es and Stukas – might be a pre-concieved and ill founded thought though!
The admission prices will be comparable to similar size museums I am told.
Can anybody tell us the prices for access to the museum?
Were any Hurricanes ever fitted with a tear drop canopy?
I think 2 F3’s have just done a flypast at Boscombe?
Between 09.35 and 0945 this morning at Boscombe Down I saw a BAC 1-11 parked up wearing this scheme, http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK—Air/British-Aerospace-BAC-111-539GL/0444585/&sid=4fcbae2785db4c3c2075141579ae14f2, what seemed to be an F3 over a GR4 also parked (lighter grey), the rotary wing hangar seemed devoid of helicopters just full of large boxes, a Sea King flew in and landed, almost immediately after this an ETPS Gazelle took off and flew away, a second Sea King appeared in the sky and a Tutor started flying circuits.
An hour later I heard what I first thought was the Harvard but when I went outside and looked saw it was the Basset and then 5 minutes ago I heard a jet take off and fly away but haven’t seen it to know exactly which type.
Phew…! 😀
