Yes you did!
That’s good to hear, I only caught a very brief glimpse of the tail before the trees alongside the A303 covered it. Do you know which Chipmunk it was / is?
Did I see an RAF schemed Chipmunk at Popham when I sped past at 70 earlier today?
When I look at the AV-8B+ I think about what the Sea Harrier FA2 could of been.
If it had been based on the Harrier II airframe rather then a belts and braces upgrade of the old FRS1 we could of got a far more capable type that was easier to upgrade and logistically closer to the GR5. Also there would of been a fair chance of a sale to Italy rather then AV-8B+ that they purchased in the end.
Finally it would of probably still be in service now.
Shame…
How costly would it have been to add a fold in the wings just aft of the out rigger wheels?
Well done J Boyle! Although now it’s name has been mentioned how long before this thread becomes another ‘How wonderful an aircraft it was’ thread…? :p
I do like your thinking pagen, but not quite.
I’m a little surprised there has been no mention of ‘it’.
You know the aircraft that is always mentioned when there is talk of the best bomber, if not aircraft of all time.
Despite, technically, not really qualifying.
I too had Lancaster and Vulcan but was also leaning towards the Buccaneer if that could be classed as a bomber?
Was it not the Voyager?
I’m really not sure on this. With all of the incredible CGI aerial combat scenes I have a horrible feeling this will just be a very showy film with absolutely zero realism where it should really matter.
I didn’t. I moved on to Captain Scott’s Diary which was an incredible book, highly recommended! I’m now half way through Hostile Skies by David Morgen which is his account as a Harrier pilot during the Falklands War.

I was driving near High Wycombe today and saw a red and white aircraft about half a mile away which at first I was sure was a Chipmunk in the old RAF red a white scheme but as it got closer I was sorely disappointed to find it wasn’t. 🙁
Wasn’t there aircraft in the film Flight Of The Navigator?
Yesterday evening I saw a biplane flying from Boscombe Down, anybody knows whose and exactly what?
To be honest I find it hard to keep up with which new war the UK/US have decided to start and where the RAF get sent to!
