I too am a HGV driver and several weeks ago experienced dangerously impatient car driving because I was allowing HGV drivers the space they need.
I was driving along the A303 dual carriage way and was overtaking 4 HGVs, as I was between 4th and 3rd a lady in her 50’s driving quite new Jaguar came speeding up behind me. Knowing how dangerous it is to squeeze in between HGVs following each other about 4 seconds apart I continued to overtake, driver behind me didn’t like this so she got within 1 metre of my rear bumper at 70mph. I continued to overtake remaining trucks before moving back into left hand lane upon which car behind accelerated away at some considerable speed!
Today I had a car pull out in front of me quite late on dual carriage way at 45 and driver made no attempt to accelerate to 60/70 for about 1 minute, if he’d waited 2 seconds I would have passed him.

A bad/dangerous driver is a bad/dangerous driver whatever they drive be it a 49cc moped or a 49 ton truck!

Does anybody else not like the WW2 scheme the RAF have painted the Tucano in? I think it looks very tacky! 🙁

Today at about 15.00 I saw 2 historic helicopters flying over Andover that almost certainly had come from Middle Wallop. 1 was a Scout but I’m a little unsure as to what the second was, a quick look on interweb seems to show it might well have been a Skeeter?
Does anybody know what it was and if they were practicing for anything in particular?

I had several deliveries and collections to be made in The New Forest this afternoon and with virtually cloud free skies it made the area look particularly nice! 😀

Yesterday when I was out in my truck, I pulled up on road outside flower nursery and tried to select 1st gear ready to pull away but couldn’t. I tried second and again I couldn’t and it was only with a nearly superhuman push did I manage to select 3rd gear but when I tried to pull away in my loaded truck I could only manage a very slow crawl. I’d travelled 2 metres when there was a nearly over powering smell of burning oil so as soon as I was off main road I stopped and turned engine off. Man from nursery walked down to see me and said he could hear how much difficulty I was having selecting gear and can now smell the reason.
I phoned the transport office and was met with an altogether expectant reply of “OK, wait there and we’ll send someone out to get you.”
The early finish was a welcome surprise!

Woke up to discover England had only managed a draw. At this rate it might be all over for them quite soon.:D:D

Oh, how I laughed when I heard this too! :D:D:D:D:D

That description may allude to S-61N G-VIPZ which was overall black in colour. That particular airframe had been advertised as ‘for sale’ and I note that it has been de-registered as transferred to another country; possibly for operation at Galway, Eire.

That looks a lot like what I saw!

On the subject of Helicopters, as I was sat at Sutton Scotney services having my truck checked over by VOSA at 0830 I saw a black Sea King heading west bound on the back of a trailer. The Sea King also had a radome sticking out from beneath the front cockpit windows, any ideas whose it could have been?

Getting a £120 fine of The Old Bill because of an incorrect tacho. I had left it in my truck overnight several weeks ago with it set to show ‘other work’ so according to what the tacho shows I worked continually for 24 hours. The Police Man said he knows this obviously can’t have happened but combined with the fact I hadn’t shut my orange Haz Chem signs on my truck after delivering them 30 minutes before he took the law into his own hands and fined me.

Made me swear particularly as 8 days ago our first child Jack Thomas was born and every penny now counts.

    Sigh
