I was doing 60mph on single carriageway A road approaching junction and I saw 3 cars approaching in opposite lane all signalling to turn right across my lane. The first two cars turned ok, the second was quite close to me then the third car swung across too. I was less than 20 metres away. I braked very hard but when the wheels locked at 50 I thought I was about to die but by some miracle I missed the back of his car. The driver waiting to pull out of the road looked horrified.

I have been driving 10 years and have spent four years driving for a living and this is the only time I have ever thought I was about to shake hands with my maker and I have never felt terror like it!

I wish people would stop describing the current credit crisis as ‘boom and bust’.

The more accurate description is ‘greed and grief’!

Ten years ago house prices started rising in my local area (Salisbury Plain), withing 2 years house prices had doubled and six months ago were more than three times the level they were ten years ago.

What has changed in the local area to mean house prices are now so high?

    Nothing.

A proportion of house owners however could smell a quick buck and for some buying and selling houses earned them more than their job!

But will house prices ever get down to less than £100,000 for a three bed semi?

    One can only hope!

Cracking pictures, unfortunatly I’ll have to say having the more modern aircraft amongst them does spoil it for me.

You can’t beat a bit of history! :p

As with mony people my first experience of a Chipmunk was with the ATC, I flew in WP840 (9) at 2AEF out of Hurn, Bournmouth on 22 June 1991 for 15 minutes. Little old me waddled across the tarmac in my uniform with coveralls, the bonedome on my head and the parachute banging against my bum with each step.
Since I first came to this forum I have found out where ‘840 is now based and the internet has let me find loads of photos of my first some of which I’ve included below. I was also staggered when I saw the 9 on the front of a Chipmunk pictured on the front cover of Pilot magazine and when I looked at the article inside found it was WP840! 😮

In the third picture down the guy in blue seems a little too unconcerned, even pleased with the scene over his shoulder!

What on Earth is this aircraft?

(Or what movie did it feature in?)

Does anybody else agree with me that the Buccaneers best paintscheme has to be the Desert cam from Gulf War 1?

    WOW x2!

In 1992 my first Air Cadet summer camp was at RAF Manston and I am currently half way through a 1:48 Harrier GR3 model of XW768.

Which was an imtation of the Kestral (OK not a production operational type, but was operated in a trials role by a number of air arms)

I thought the Kestral was the name given to the prototype Harrier in the same way that Tornado was often refered to as MRCA in the prototype stage.

Got to be the Harrier, the only imitations were further marks.

    Not got enough holes

I’ve just bought a joystick/foot peddles set from a charity shop with a 15 pin connector only to find my PC has a 9 pin joystick port. I have only managed to find 15-9 pin adapters that cost £15, does anybody know where I could pick one up cheaper?

PS I live between Salisbury and Andover if that is any help.
