As mentioned earlier it is only operated by two countries, Russia/Soviet Union and Kazakhstan. I wasn’t aware of this but it is actually a very old airframe, deliveries commenced in 1979 and the Russians don’t seem to have upgraded it much in recent years. I can see it just disapearing over the next two years with little being said about it!
Hi, sorry to Hi-jack the thread but i’m in a simmilar position to XH668. I’m looking to invst in PPl training but i’m not quite sure how to go about it.
My dad (he’s a PPL) said that he voluntiered for the fire crew at Old Sarum and got a discount on lessons etc. However I also have another choice which is to do PPL training in the a/c we own.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for training airfields around Salisbury or Instructiors who do training in a persons a/c? At the moment i’m looking at Western Air Thruxton as the best choice (for either method) but they have no listed prices. Does anyone know PPL costs at TX?
Adivce / Suggestion Please?
(Again sorry for thread hi-jack)
Google is your friend…
Just curious about peoples choices on this theme. I would choose:
Wright flyer
SE5a
DC2
Spitfire (or maybe Mustang)
Lancaster
B-29
Me 262
Harrier
F-15
SR-71
Concorde
Boeing 747
Space shuttleLots more to choose from of course…
I can see why you’ve chosen all of these except the F-15, what is so special (or speshul?) about this?
What is the door open visible in pictures 4, 5 and 6?
For me it would have to be the English Electric Lightning.
During the 60s 70s and 80s its role was to protect the UK from the thousands of attack aircraft the Soviet Union could very easily have sent our way.
With two missiles supplemented by two cannon! 😮
I really can’t see them being all that effective at helping us win World War 3.
Thanks guys, that’ll almost certainly be a Bloodhound! 😎
Looking on Google Earth what is sat about 10/15 metres in front of the Canberra?
The vatican? Im sure their private fleet could be considered an “air force” in loose terms.,….then again, maybe the vatican doesnt own any planes…..lemme know im intrigued.
I’ve just had a look on Wiki and although the Vatican City has a heliport it does not have any military air vehicles of any description based there.
I dunno the C5 are still used for the more akward loads arn’t they? Seems if the An 124 is used a fair bit by the Americans maybe they are needing a plane like the An 124 or why else would they hire them out? They won’t be around forever either, a fair few more decades i’d imagine but one day the Americans might find themselves short on heavy lift with no where to turn but hiring from civilian companies that may not (i guess) be willing to hire themselves out to America for whatever reason, then there really screwed with no replacement ready to go.
Would the Americans ever buy An 124, if not what would need to be done to make it possible?
I don’t mean nicknames I mean their/the manufacturers names for the various types of aircraft.
Nearly there
Looking at the download site from Classic British Flight Sim Rick Piper’s Chippy should work in FS-X, so no need for FS2004 :

“Jump jump John….”
I managed to find a shop selling FSX for £30, I’ve downloaded the above Chippy but I can’t for the life of me get the thing to appear when I go to the load flight screen in FSX.
As a relative newbie in the flight sim download world can anybody offer me a step by step (if necassary) guide to do what I can’t simply can’t?
Cheers!

Can somebody explain to a simpleton like me what that strange protrusion is at the back of this MiG?
I can only agree with what bazv has said, a B52 flypast sounds most likely.
When did the RAF adopt the Saudi-esq colour scheme for it’s Tornados and is it a desert scheme or a more regular scheme?
Is this the sort of size of force the RAF will have in a few years time?
One tanker will be able to refuel all 4 of the F35B fleet at once! 🙁
