if anything it is it must be the other way round, Antonov designs almost all have been of that High tail and thats what one gets to see on the dorniers and others ……

and neither does any design get similar when its meant for the same market, its the Aerodynamics of any that mostly makes any design similar, coz for the kind of aerodynamics, specs that u need for an a/c etc etc u may get ur final solution to a very very narrow band of design output and the reason y many will get to see design similarity of many designs

what do u guys think abt the Formula one designs??? ……… all copied from one anothers???……well now cos the design parameters given mekes the output in a very narrow band which maybe the outcome that many would be getting for the kind of thing that they wantted

and I hops the guys don make any dumb of themselves with theories of copies etc etc coz thats not the case, and would be good for bashing reporters looking for anything to fill in their @rse

and for those who stiil don understand , I’ll try to make u understand for u guys to have a personal touch …… just see ur own Body for example and compare it to the ppl around U!

Have some fresh air and Open UR mind Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide as possible BlackCAT(Seems Difficult!?)

its as usual set to set to INFINITY

Are HAL scientists foolish to go in for GE 404,when RD33 was available?
India just did not say yes to untrusted American Cooperation(in early days) just to make Americans happy, when Russian help was easily available!!!!

well they would have been foolish if they for some political reasom had selected the RD-33 which was not fully developed as much as the F-404 and also neede to have that frist rounds of feedbacks from the operational units of miG-29s too …. which only started to enter in the mid-80s , that again was a reason, but if there was a political wil, it would have been a joint development where by RD-33 coming in as the engine for the test flights of the LCA etc etc probablity

Had been so simple to change an aircraft engine India would have done it long ago!!!

but there was no reason to do that coz its only in 2001 that the first one flew and the FBW etc orkd was underwayduring the late eighties and ninties in the US an integral part of which was the selected F-404, now they could have even gone for the most credited Mirage engines too, but then there wa no sweetness that was sprinkld in the relation with French, else I don see as to y they should nothave selected the mirahe engine and Dassault facility

    And Now answer this:
Even when America applied sanctions,Never ever RD33 popped up as probable engine for LCA!

yup saw it…. america applied sanctions and the poor guys who worked in there was not even allowed to take their papers along with them on their return trip to India!

and how many times did u see the LCA fly between 1989 and 2001?

there simply was no need to as we already had some stocks of the F-404 and work was already statred on thet amd it would have been cost overrun in heavy terms goin back to getting more RD-33 whose initial experience was not good. and Y should the RD-33 again pop up for the LCA when the sanction come-in???…. what was Kaveri then for??….to show that yes we can build ebgine too ….but we wont use them??….

Why would India go in for expensive and unreliable (in terms of Availaibility due to US attitude not performance vise) Engine !?

and u forgot that we had enough engied b4 US had its sanctuon on us, and also work was goin on with that engine which was already selected which dated back to the good years of 80’s and u say the F-404 that we have was the performancewise best engine that was there at that time?

Yup! RD33 Has improved .And I already said that to Alezx.Even IAF ACM agreed to it while reffering to MiG29M
as …..”New Aircraft is wonderfull, new aircraft supports less smoky Engine, better fuel efficiency……………….”

k whetever it is, the RD-33 what u see now had its work completed like the MiG-29M way back in 89 or say was to getout , but that got delayed coz of all the crisis and did not come out, like the TVC RD-33 whose initial service entry was 94 which now seems be coming out only by 2005-6 if all goes right

“amd if I am not wrong the kaveri, RD-33, F-404 all are in the same league in size though some varationa might be there.”
Blackcat adjusting to those some variations also requires mooore time…… Something India surely now lacks of !!!

    Regds
    Infinity

ofcourse i know, its not that easy either … but ur countering ur own approach there coz Kaveri is not yet ready and what do u think the code for that has already been wirtted ???….. and how much time will it take for it to be integrated to LCA? … and if going by way LCA would be far from having a kaveri engine coz of the huge task (not that Im teling its an easy thing) wont enter service by 2010

    No no no!!!

You can’t choose the right one! And why not
you asked??? Because, it’s too damn F-22ish! Only ChiComs are
suppose to copy to the same/exact likeness. :p

    :p

ofcourse not edison….i think like many u too are towing that similar lines….. of a copied F/A-22

if u take a look w/o that F/A-22 in mind it will be pretty clear to u that its catuclly a S-37 with a modified design with mainly the wings and tail and the fin remaining the same

its coz of that diamond shape which is again not as much wider to the F-22 that many take it as copied of influence from the F/A-22 ….. actuallt if the S-37 is put up with a swept back wings and canards in on the LERX, it would be even much better than what the the figure now represents

    How so???

I mean I had always had the impression that the general mentality is that all goods
Chinese are either cheap toasters or they’re rusty buckets (J-10’s are Chinese isn’t it?)? As such,
isn’t the two distinct and different schools of thoughts (rejection as in the expression that it’s cheap toasters
verses the expression of fear and/or of concern as in the above) contradictory to each other???

well i don belond that group, who tkeas their opponent lightly coz of their lack of technical superiority or anyother who ever the opponent maybe – its the worst eveny in ur path to Victory

and u should know as to Y the Indian defence services are what they are and striving to be better, coz like the many Indian posters words or thoughts u showcased in here abt the other ppl, the indian services dont take their probable opponents lightly be it anyone . If something is made as a weapon it will have its use one way or the other however obsolete it maybe

but that said J-10 isn’t something that can be taken lightly, its way ahead of the F-7 os something interms of design and performance.
