Tks harry for that timely intervention

    Arthur,

Using local names for airforces is admirable, but pretty hopeless. Countries tend to name their airforces in their own language (even while we like to use English acronyms like PLAAF or IDF/AF, sometimes in English despite the country’s language like the IRIAF), regardless what other countries call their airforces. If you want to adress the Dutch airforce by it’s proper name, you should call it KLu. If you prefer that in English, it would be RAF. The same is true for Denmark. And just like with the RAF and KLu, lots of countries don’t have the name of the country in their air force’s name. France’s Armée de l’Air, Germany’s Luftwaffe, Myanmar’s Tandam Law, Russia’s Voyenno-Vozduchnie Sily, Israel’s Heyl ha’Avir…

The correct name for the Indian AF would probably be Bharatiya Vayu Sena or BVS, so i don’t think you have any reason to bicker against Matt for using InAF rather than IAF.

Italy’s military aviation started before WW1, and goes under the designation AMI.

Arthur, r u ignoring the facts or u just dont know???

my nation has got 2 names – Bharat in her National Language and India in Engkish both of which are leagal names for a great nation whose histroy dates back 5000+ yrs

and same do for my nations defence Force, an English name and one in the national language

    Air Force –
Bharathiya Vayu Sena in Hindi &
    Indian Air Force in English

both of which are truely its name

    Navy
    Bharathiya Nau Sena in Hindi
    Indian Navy in English

    and both represent its name

    Army
    Bharathiya Thal Sena in Hindi
Indian Army or Indian Land forces as u may call

so these are not created names for easy calling but the recoganised service Identity of the Indian Defence Forces

but thats not the case with none of the forcres that u mentioned , if I am not wronf

like wise InAF is the most irritant one that one can have in calling IAF , I am not againt using the short or easy orm like …. for Frenh, Russian or any other AF, i wud be better off be callinf then or address them as

French AF and Russian AF or RuAF as thatssame thing dont interfere with any thing else in the branch of that service. Like wise if anyone wat to use that same IAF let them use it in the proper way ..like the case arose with Matt when he had to choose from Isreali and Indian AF, he often adressed Isreali AF ad IAF and Indian AF as InAF, if anyone wanna check u guys chekc out his post, and other members had already pointed out to him abt that but he never changed his adressing style

neither do I have seen anyone calling PLAAF as Chinese AF and RAF as BAF etc etc …. so Arthur, i think most of ur case is not at all valid, though ur intentionnwas good

and a request, if u guys want to use that short form plzz do iy properly and not IAF coz IAF means only Indian Air Force …. but want to shorten ur typing then and anyone having hard time to swallow the pill abt IAF then plzzz

adress the Indian , Isreali, Indonesian, Italian etc etc AFs as

    Indian AF
    Isreali AF
    Indonesian AF
    Italian AF

….. hope u guys agree to my views, but do rem that Indian AF is IAF = INDIAN AIR FORCE

and the momento that was presnted during the industion of the Su-30MKI

    Bmused55,

Embraer… I see no mention of EMB here??

k here, or is it out of new section?

    Finally!
So, looks like its Boeing & Embraer planes for JAT Airways!
    EU will be ****ed

How did Boeing achieve that, in more favorable terms…means good terms of leasing or what ??….. and itr included low cost also?

otherwise I dont see how boeing would be able to match the Airbus in cost as they offer cheaper solution

Yes I know….. as what they need is a narrow-bodied long-range one (I hope 737 is not wide-bodied) ….. but Y not Airbus ….. but Boeing was to be expected, after all thats the simplest way to mend ties with Unkil ….. so Airbus again lost out on politics?

and ere some pic … the first one being the An-148 and others the An-140 which is a Joint Ukranian – Iranian one …. and Iranians inted to have several versions of that including, marine patrol, air-borne warning and others include tye primary intended transport
