It is certainly a Vampire. I would hazard a guess that it is one of the ex Canadian F3’s that were doing the rounds at the time. I seem to remember they were brouht into the US by a company called ‘Fliteways’. Some were sold on to other air forces. Others are still around in the US.
Bruce
Thanks Bruce I wonder if this plane every received an N# a quick check of the FAA records doesn’t have any of the three company’s that David had show an vampire listed.
Cee’s
I can speak on the Tallichet collection no it will not while some items will come up for sale for the most part David knew he was sick and wouldn’t be alive that much longer, he had already started to make plans for the collection. Some aircraft are slated to be part of the stuff that is/has gone to PIMA while some other will be joining the B-17 at 1941HAG Geneseo they have already took on the A-20 and the V-77 look for a few other aircraft to be added over the next few months also.
As for Mr. Pond collection it won’t be going anywhere the collection is part of a 501c3 museum which he set up when he moved the collection from Minn. to its present location. You might see maybe one or two aircraft trade for other item but the collection as a whole is going to stay intact.
Yet that very same Skyraider has a paintjob celebrating the death of a MiG-17 pilot. How come that’s not tasteless?
Sorry Arthur,
But that aircraft never carried any Mig17 Kill on it not while Jack owned and never when Harry owned. I spent quite allot of time around that aircraft in the 80s.
So Here is an idea folks all of you looking for a PO-2 why not contact Jerry Yeagan.
Question for all of you Vampire folks in the photos posted on the Wixs thread there is a photo showing what looks like to be a Vampire in the very back center. Its the one photo of the TBM from the left side.
Also beside the Vampire(s) did David own any Hunters I’ve read that he did but doing a search and their was none come up in his ownership past or present.
Hi Jorgen,
Have you sent an inquiry to the USAF Record for aircraft at Maxwell AFB they hold all the records of both USAF and Army Air Corp aircraft. If you like I could pass along a request for you it will take about 6 to 8 weeks to get any information back.
It should be noted that this is a listing of all the aircraft that Mr Tallichet ever owned, rather than a list of those he owned at the time of his death.
Bruce
Bruce,
Just one minor comment this is only the prop stuff the Jet Collection is still being work on but do to allot of reason the list wasn’t part of this master on going list.
Is there a definitive list of the aircraft that mr Tallichet owned?
Hi Mark,
Here you go this is just the Prop Collection,
