They appear to be new built. I expect that they are close to the Su-30MK2 with some customer related differences. In other words a new built twin-seat Su-27SM.

Maybe the Su-30M2 are used as trainers for the Su-27SM? 4 aircraft doesn’t make much sense on operational terms.

don’t underestimate the personal cost factor. Take into account how many personal is involved and if you factor in the costs for infrastructure (including its maintenance) then this figure becomes pretty high. There was a recent article stating 74000 € per Luftwaffe Eurofighter fh. It’s frustrating that such numbers are thrown around without any reference what they are based on and what is factored in.

SO the F-35 isn’t net worked or never will be with Aegis?

Simple point made, perhaps you just weren’t clear enough, the F-35 is of course networked. I said that EODAS itself won’t transmit data to other platforms. EODAS data are fused with other sensor data and then transmitted via DL (LINK 16, MADL, SATCOM).

EODAS doesn’t hand off data to defense assets at all. It might be able to detect such missiles and if they are recognised as such (mainly a question of algorithms) you will hand off these data via DL. Looking through the aircraft is possible as soon as you have such an imaging IR device beneath the fuselage.

Well it’s true that not all MAWS are IR/UV based, but the MLD is nothing else than an IR MAWS, like many others. EODAS is yet a different thing. Btw IFF is not really a function of EODAS, the system stores the ID of the target provided by other sensor systems as long as it keeps tracking it.

:confused: MAWS, MLD what’s the difference? Just 2 different terms for the same thing.

This entire articles is full of errors.

1.) The UK has placed fixed orders for 160 aircraft not 140.
2.) RAF Typhoon are already cleared to fly again
3.) Typhoon of the different Tranches aren’t all the same
4.) Upgrades are ever going to cost money and count them into the price is somewhat faulty, as are price comparisons which include different things.

Eurofighter: Training Flights Temporarily Suspended

VIENNA — The Eurofighter user countries were recommended to discontinue exercise and training flights of the Eurofighter because of a perceived safety problem in the ejection seat.

This is a normal procedure to ensure safety.

The interruption was necessary because, if mishandled, the parachute could become separated from the ejection seat in case of ejection.

Pilots are being trained in the new procedures. Thereafter, the training and exercise operations are resumed.

This measure has no effect on the supervision and monitoring of air space.

Eurofighter will continue to carry out operational missions – so-called A-priority flights – and remains fully operational.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but I expect them to demilitarize the aircraft, which will subtract from the value of such training. Just empty flying hulls aren’t that useful. For dogfighting maybe, but I’m certain there would be a stronger interest to fly against a working threat aircraft.

as you added yourself adaption of the missile is a possibility. 6 AMRAAMs just fit into the Raptors bay as the fins were cutted.
