Incomplete maybe ..But how do you explain the fact that RAFALE has always emerged as winner against Typhoon in every single evaluation starting in Korea followed in Singapore, Switzerland, Brazil and you name it..Even in India, Rafales chances are far bigger than Typhoon.
Rafale has always reached the finals while Typhoon seldom saw the quarterfinal.
How do you explain that the Rafale has scored no export success right now and lost out against the F-15 and F-16 f.e. Does it mean that these aircraft are all superior to the Rafale? According your logic yes. The Typhoon was ever plaged by delays, its high cost and lack of matury. Even now it lacks adequate AG capabilities and at the given price tag it’s unacceptable for most customers. Add to that uncertainies about the aircraft’s future it all adds up. The Rafale was in a better position by stronger political back up, at least to a certain extend a funded roadmap and a certain matury in some areas where the Typhoon is not.
Rafale dominates Typhoon in every category except one : Typhoon was driven by the need for top performance at high AoA and at supersonic speeds. This is where Typhpon is superior to Rafale and most probably the second best in the world after F-22. In all other areas ,Rafale has the edge.. The design and construction of Typhoon must have been more complicated than that of Rafale considering the needs and requirements of four different nations ..
You can also forget the French pilots anecdotal evidences concerning Rafale beating Typhoon 4:0 or losing to F-22 only once..Not to be taken seriously.
A quite simplified and incomplete assessment. The truth is every aircraft is designed to meet its respective requirements, which are quite often conflicting. The result, trade offs has to be made. There are people bragging about all kind of non related things and repeat them over and over again in hope to deviate from unfavourable facts.
They could be realy satisfied not to get shot, yes.
Sure :p
This bring us to many issues Typhoon supporters doesn’t like to look at.
Like the weight increase from the T2/T3 after structural strenghtening, maximum structural load, AoA limits, low speed characteristics, the fact that Typhoon needs elevator pitch up in supersonic in a way a close-coupled canard doesn’t etc.
All of which are well documented and quantified btw.
There are things we know about and which are acknowledged though we lack more specific details and some people simply don’t want to make overly eggerated assumptions to “prove” a point.
The part of its flight envelop where it would be markedely superior to Rafale is rather small, just where it was designed to shine, at Mach 1.8/2.0, for the rest it’s either level pegging or inferior.
Ofcourse because no one in the world knows anything… except for you ofcourse
@ Scorpion : i understand your PoV… But i’d be pleased to read a RAF or Luftwaffe, or Italian or Spanish pilot saying very officially that they beat Rafale easily.
“Extremely gratifying” results doesn’t mean “we won”.French pilots apparently aren’t afraid to look ridiculous.
Who has ever said the Rafale is going to be a slouch, especially WVR? Though you think they would say “extremly gratifying” and the main difference is thrust when they have fared miserably or just lala against the Rafales?
And for that matter of thrust, TWR based on static data is one thing, TWR under varying conditions (speed & altitude, installed thrust…) just another. Not to speak about thrust/drag ratio which is rarely mentioned.
I know but Scorpion was in his last post, involving it was from Check6 in a dismisive way as if could have been a fake…
Aha by posting:
Just another HuD shot from the check-six forums.
You pathetic troll!
Informally, the pilots from Neuburg recently pitted their skills against their French Rafale colleagues in aerial combat. The results were extremely gratifying, the main difference being the much greater thrust of the EJ200 engine.
Just to take out what’s relevant regarding that topic. Interestingly we haven’t heared anything from the french site regarding this encounter. Appears to be not relevant for some people.;)
SAY YOU.
Again; instead of adding to the usual smear, you’re more than welcome to put your money where your mouth is, because you only prove my point today and never managed to prove yours before.
None of you ever managed to prove his points wrong either, deny the sources, facts spin twist and the rest yes, the usual tactics, then smear when everythnig else fails.
You in particular have a nack for denial and never could show these points to be wrong, even now by suggesting that “his own sources often contradict him self or don’t support his assertions” you only can add to the usual mediocrity of the smear we’ve seen for years, so go and prove it please.
It’s much easier to do smear than research work and even more so, comprehend what is necessary to know in order to do better.
Good luck with the technical, the smear and other flaming technics, we all can do. Cheers. 😀
Not for long, according to the latest news…
Yes says me. And what? How technical was this very post of you? We know us since more than 4 years now and we certainly had more than enough discussions and we both know how they ended up. I see no reason to repeat that for the sake of forum peace and as I know that it is a waste of time. Make out of that what you want and throw as much dirt as you want, it neither impresses me nor does it make any of your claims more true or wrong and neither mine.
cheers

Similar to if you’re not in a LO platform, you should think twice before trying to engage a LO fighter BVR.
[ironic]
As the US LO fighters are undetectable according our dear F-22/35 fanboys how can a non LO fighter attack them at all BVR, let alone a pilot be aware of their presence? :p[/ironic]
Of course it’s not as simple as I described it. I was just trying to sink to the level of the discussion. I think the whole who can outmaneuver who is kind of a moot point with today’s modern missiles.
If you don’t have an HOBS allround LOAL capability you are still required to manoeuver to get the target within the missile seekers envelope.
Why should someone prove him wrong, if his own sources often contradict him self or don’t support his assertions? :p
EJ-200 pressure recovery limit is 1.3 and anything higher is pushing the engine lifespan down, what Europjet and their customers are curently looking for is a decreased TBO not an increase in performances; we’re done with the “stupid figures” war…
As you are the 2nd to misunderstood it, this was related to speed with AB, not supercruise. Appologise if it made a different impression.
This will no doubt earn me the opprobrium of every patriotic French aircraft fan (and the Brits/Germans/Italians/Spanish won’t like it much either) and will doubtless evince squeals of protest and personal attacks.
For someone who isn’t long registred here you are quite quick in predicting what the reaction will be besides some people here. Not that you are necessarily wrong on that, but it’s certainly a little bit pre-mature! There is no reason to add your thoghts about the reaction of other users every time you post something. 😉
Just a small addition to the introduction of the Eurofighter into Luftwaffe’s JaboG 31. A 5th aircraft (AS007) arrived at Nörvenich today and there was a small, but rather disappointing flypast by a formation of 2 Eurofighters and 2 of the resident Tornado IDS.
It appears that all 5 Eurofighters have left Nörvenich in the late afternoon and moved back to Laage. As just one pilot of the JaboG 31 is trained so far it appears not to make sense to operate those aircraft there, albeit the aircraft was formally introduced. It might take some more weeks before Eurofighter operations ramp up at Nörvenich. According the related press release from Eurofighter it is planned to replace the Tornado in june 2010.

I think you misinterprete what I said at that time…Against the SH yes (dogfight). Against the typhoon it was just to say it wasn’t invincible and that there is certainly too much “hype” about its air to air capabilities. That’s all 😉
I admit that in the debate with jackonocko it might have become too passionate. but the substance is what I said above !
I take teer’s word as mine :
——————————————————————————–
I didn’t meant what you said, but what someone else said on the base of your report ;). I agree with Teer as well and it appears to be what pilots have commented so far as well.
