Really?! I bet it won’t have the original cast though, won’t be the same without em!
It may be a very different movie if they can get George Peppard in it, given that he’s dead…
George Romero as director, anyone?
(Blimey! I am gloomy today – have I missed a tablet?)
Adrian
Hartebees, Hardy..
Yep, Hardy popped into my head as I was walking back from town. Grr! Hartebees – South African variant with a name like that?
Adrian
Wonder What else is there…?
Given the photos a while back of Hawker Hart/Hind/Audax airframes (OK, I forget which, and there are sooo many variants) the correct answer to that question is probably “almost anything!”.
Of course we must be aware that somene – Afghan Government? – presumably has a title to these, so there must be more to retrieving them than just rolling up with a regiment and a big carrier bag… mustn’t there?
Adrian
To hopefully restore a certain amount of normality to this thread – this is from the Ray Hann tribute thread on pprune:

First post on the page, first pic of MH434 on the ground. I’m guessing from the skyline that it’s the far end of the taxiway at Duxford – unfortunately the rellies I had just over that hill have now moved. Rats!
Anyway, is that not the most staggeringly evocative photo?
ADrian
Don’t show Graham Warner, or we’ll never see the Blenheim at Duxford again! :diablo:
On a slightly more serious note, what role was it envisaged for, I wonder? The drag from that lot must have been horrific and by about 1940 the Bolingbroke was hardly the fastest on the block anyway. There were dedicated ASR types (Walrus) available and I can’t see it as a freighter on the lakes.
Maybe it was just too much gin?
Adrian
Well well, I can’t be as daft as I look!
Adrian
I vaguely remember seeing some of the one Nick remembers when I was recovering from having my appendix out in 1987 – hence the vagueness!
Possibly called Sky Pirates?
ADrian
Superb! The Edwardians were a highlight of my visit – though let’s face it nearly everything was a highlight. It took three straight days of listening to the blues to get the smile off my fizzog! 😎
And the Tutor just looks so evocative in that sunburst finish…
At risk of blatant advertising, by the way, I’ve finally posted my Autumn display pics from my Box Brownie that I’ve been banging on about over on Historic for months a few threads back. Next time I’ll hope for a little softer light and use slower film, but you’re a bit limited with just three f-stops and a 1/30th-ish shutter speed. Nonetheless I find something appealing about using a 1930-ish camerra to snap 1930-ish aircraft. Maybe I’m just a bit pots?
Adrian
Cor, high praise indeed given who it’s come from!
Yes, I was fairly pleased – if I could still get into the darkroom at work I might have been able to do a bit more with them, but they’ll do. I think the Jackaroo is probably the best lit and framed of the lot and those old Kodaks produce astonishingly good pictures when you consider that they are just a tin box with a piece of glass in a hole at the front.
Maybe next time we are both at OW you can have a go with my kit and I can have a go with yours? :diablo:
(something tells me I might be a bit lost – I can only just cope with the number of controls on a box camera!)
Adrian
And the rest – these are a bit better, less reflection off doped canvas! Also a bit more cloud, so less bright.
Adrian
It is easy to tell which one you is which with regard to ‘OIR and ‘NZT (apart from the colours  ).
‘NZT has a full length turtle deck whereas ‘OIR has but a short one…
*spits tea over keyboard*
How did I miss that?
Adrian 😮 😮
Very nice! I must confess that when I saw a Jackaroo in the flesh for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised at how good they actually look, having always thought of them as a “moff” with a greenhouse. The 1930s-esque colour schemes that G-AOIR & G-ANZT wear also help!
Would I be right in thinking that you might just have a little to do with one of the aeroplanes in the background?… :diablo:
Adrian
Found it – on a roll from my Box Brownie, which I only got contact-printed yesterday!
One Jackaroo, at Old Warden in 2005 (or is that the 1960s?)
Adrian
Over Chatteris… Explains a lot if you ask me! :diablo:
Adrian
What…don’t you have the Ian Allan book Elsans at War?!!
Now that really is full of sh… I’ll get me coat!
