Ah, so it’s back to the Stone Age of BB code!
Adrian
There seems to be no quote function – unless I am missing something? Makes it awkward replying to inidvidual posts, especially on a big thread.
Adrian
Jagx204 – you need to drop Airfix a line, there’s bit’s missing! Seriously, that’s quite a haul – I guess that’s because a lot of Norway is a very very long way from anywhere?
(anyone worked out how to reply to a post directly?)
Adrian
I was recently speaking to an acquaintance of yours over a free gin at RAF Brize Norton (that’ll give you a clue as to why), Mark12, and he showed me the pics of what I think is Recent Norwegian Spitfire 1 (henceforth to be known as wItiRNS1) laid out for viewing. Even without the extra sacks, it looked like quite a haul. I believe that shoutiiing too much is embargoed until it’s been on the tele, so please give us a heads-up on here when it’s due on!
Thanks,
Adrian
We must have watched different movies because, while the Mosquitos in 633 are good, the rest of the film is appalling, and the “Lincolns” in The Dambusters are Lancaster VIIs.
Adrian
I’m still way behind on updated post lists as well and while it’s not as dial-up slow as it was, it’s still pretty slothsome.
Haven’t dared try to post a new thread yet.

Delighted to see the Lysander in the air.
I took Dad to Old Warden for his 80th and theirs made his day – he hadn’t seen one in the air since the war. He won’t ever see this one, but I’m sure his shade was watching.

The chap at 2.10 in the news report looks as though he’s trying to start it. I think it will take a bit more work than that…
Adrian
A swift lug of AVTUR will clear you through much like a night on the real ale, but with considerably less fun and considerably more dodgy tasting belches!
Adrian
(Young Farmer’s prank – it was paraffin rather than AVTUR, but close enough)
Oh ****. That really, really does not look good. Please let it not be so.
Adrian
You’re not kidding, Black Knight. She looks gorgeous! The loss of K7 is one of those things that was shown enough when I was young – like the Blue Peter elephant – that I’m half convinced I remember it even though it was actually before I was born.
Funnily enough I have travelled on the same pice of roas as the last Bluebird car – just at 90 degrees to it’s path! It was being demonstrated at RAF Debden and failed to stop at the end of the runway, hurtled across the road, and ended up in a cornfield. I’m pretty sure there’s pictures *somewhere* on this forum.
Adrian
Thank you, gentlemen*, looks as though I have an answer. I wonder where Morrill and Cala are commemorated?
Adrian
*Ladies, of course, included if need be.
If anyone is flying out of DX, have alook along the A505 – I’m sure I’ve seen photos of cropmarks of the original WW1 Fowlmere airfield, though I can’t find them on Google Earth

Swedish PRXIX?

Only last night I was (misquoting, as it turns out) quoting First Light in the condolences book to an ex-pilot. I read it for the first time in Ottakars in Banbury while waiting for my car to be serviced and MOTed (I read fast!), and walked out of the shop with a copy. I’d almost dropped it when I realised he’d flown from Great Sampford. My late father would have seen him flying in and out. I tracked down his address, wrote him a letter, and received a very nice reply. Like so many of you, I’d always hoped to meet him and thank him in person. It’s in front of me now, and this time I will get the quote right.
“Hold on little clouds, I’ll be up there in a minute”
