I do notice a distinct shortage of beachgoers “fleeing for their lives” – in fact, I’m sure I detect a certain amount of “OK, what’s he up to? Oh, that’s what he’s up to ” going on.
Hyperbole used to be awesome…
Adrian
My thoughts exactly – that redefines “pucker time”!
Hope they got it off the beach OK…

I’d forgotten how good the long-winged Spitfire looked.
I believe they (briefly) flew from Great Sampford, my airfield of obsession.
Adrian
I’d vote American too. The chap with hat band next to the black blobs looks a bit like Weejee (I don’t think it is, mind).
Adrian
Make sure he has a look round, is that two more at the back?
Adrian
First historic of the year on Saturday, a silver and yellow Harvard over Kidlington. Appropriate, as they flew from there in WW2.
Adrian
Argh! The semantics of American aircraft designations make the roundel police look normal! But you take my point that Harvards they are surely not.
Adrian
I realise this is eight years late, but surely those are Yales rather than Harvards, with the fixed undercarriage?

I think I know which one is being referred to and, at risk of being equally mysterious, if sopwith7f1’s grasp of where it was found is as good as his grasp of the DH9 situation, I think Andy’s reputation is quite safe.
In the circumstances I wonder until proven otherwise whether it would have been more appropriate had it been found on the other side of the road? (I am deliberately leaving that statement hanging ambiguously!).
Certainly I’m a lot happier that the DH9 is “original” than I am a Hurricane currently under restoration to fly is, having seen the size of the bits retrieved from the hole.
Adrian
I’m assuming from the cropmarks of what appear to be round barrows that the Hotspur footage is over Salisbury Plain.
Adrian
Makes sense with Libs in another pictire – thank you!
Adrian
What on earth is that aircraft in no 4?
Adrian
Love the poster – what a magnificently cheesy strapline!
Adrian
No complaints from me if she were to fly again. I have fond memories of the Heavy Lift Belslows trundling into Stansted.

Caption for the pic of SM845 – Does my bum look big in this?
Dunno how wide your lens is, but that’s startling distortion!
