A bit more saturation on the red and I could almost believe that was a period Kodachrome.
My Dad could well have seen this aircraft – not far from Castle Camps or Debden. If only I could show him…

That’ll be Don Bullock in the Euroworld B17, now better known as Sally B. This pic has been discussed on here before with a location given – I recall Andrewsfield, but I’m fairly sure that Andrewsfield doesn’t have pylons this close, must be muddling with another photo – yes, see this old thread:

You tease!

Well, well. Today Aeroplane Monthly arrived, and I now know which Mustang I saw over Eefde in the Netherlands a couple of weekends ago.

That’s the one! Purchased from Ikea, no doubt. Especially as it’s taken twenty years to assemble it again…:D

Is this the one I remember in FP in the late 1990s as, as a friend said, “but it’s flat!?

Interesting – we got the BBMF low today, but a number of miles to the East of the route given – Stuart Gowans might have got a decent view as they went over Finchingfield?

Gotya – I know exactly where you are now. I was thrown by what looks exactly like a hard runway, which runs crosswise to the current one. The second image I think has Yarnton below the aircraft with Begbroke in the distance?
Thanks!

Not me in the back seat (I was -2 in 1969), but just wondering the a;llignment of the photo – I can’t make sense of it on Google Maps.
I live in Kidlington, hence the interest.

Blimey!
Reminds me of the pic I once saw (in an Eddie Doylerush book?) of a Dakota that hit two peaks in the Berwyns almost simultaneously and bent six feet of each wing tip up.

As Jules and Zidante say, the memorial is to a single pre-war crash (there’s also a plaque in the church) – this is to the men killed in WW1.
Please report back here so I know what I have missed, Jules!

Dad saw them on treetop-height cross country flights.
May they sit far above the salt in Valhalla.

…and someone had the cojones to book the LancasterS in 2014! A very, very special day.

Fornicating spheroids!
I was at school almost within sight of Headcorn (used to watch the Islander dropping parachutists from the front stairwell) at the time – and this is the first I’ve heard of it!
I guess it’s a bit late to go and take a butchers…
