Thanks Andy, first laugh of the day!

MJ,
Fond memories of spending a week there.
And making the rest of us royally jealous!
I’d love to see a Seafire 47 in the UK…
Adrian
Hopefully not!!
Rob
Some of us are still hoping the rest of it turns up!
Adrian
Presumably the Orkney Seafire wing (as I think I read it had been found to be) will soon be in the air again, then?
Adrian
Those “fishbone” clouds would appear to be cirrus wave clouds. The Perlan Project glider reached 50, 000ft using wave lift.
Thanks slicer, I knew they were unusual!
Adrian
It was in last month’s Flypast or Aeroplane.
Adrian
I note, BTW, that DX had the same strange fishbone clouds as we had in Oxford (post #2722). Any meteorologists out there?
Adrian
I suddenly remembered thte other day that Boultbee had very nearly set up at Kidlington.
Cue much swearing – I now live close enough to hear the airfield siren, imagine living close enough to hear the Merlins… 😡
Adrian
My initial thought was that it was something like this: http://drc.ohiolink.edu/handle/2374.OX/169022?value=Tiger%20Moth%20%28Training%20Plane%29&type=subject&focusscope=2374.OX/1&mode=browse
but that has a curved scale. I wonder if it perhaps had a ball under a venturi? 40mph windspeed sounds mightily fast to be flying a DH9 in.
Adrian
Oooh, forgot to mention – drove past on Saturday, the model Mosquito is still on the sign!
Adrian
BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Facebook page has a video extract, apparently, but I’m bu**ered if I can find it on their page, never mind link it.
Given that I’ve got it for a Christmas present for someone, I may have to get myself one…
Adrian
…and I’ve just received the following email
“Hi Adrian
Thank for your order: 190/061015/94
Reunion of giants
Your order will be dispatched in the morning by 1st class recorded mail.
My sincere apologies for the delay in the release of this title.
If you need to contact me for any reason please email”
Adrian
I was looking at the photograph of Paul Richey, possibly by Cecil Beaton, in one of that Saunders geezer’s “Finding The…” books only yesterday. It’s fascinating what a little lighting can do – the photograph is a hard-faced, steely warrior, while the painting that JS is discussing is a much softer person portrayed. If I could find a version online I’d link to the portrait I’m referring to.
Adrian
I think this is the website, Mike:

Adrian
I suspect that most other people have the same, but in case you don’t this is the email I’ve had in the last few minutes about this.
“Sorry about this having to be a general email and not being sent personally to all of you, being such a sort after release there are just way to many of you.
All Blu-rays have been dispatched and those who ordered them should have them or will receive them in the following few days.
This brings me to the DVD. Suppliers had been assured that the release would finally reach the main distributor by today, as it stands i have not been updated and neither have they. There is still time as i write this email.
What i’m doing now is updating my website homepage with a general ‘Reuion of giants update’ you will be able to follow any latest information that i have on the homepage.
I can only offer my sincere apologies for this delay and offer you the assurance that once its released i will get it to you as fast as humanly possible. I understand completely this is a Christmas present for many.
If anyone needs to contact me, you can either phone or email.”
