Just realised when scaling this model for Kyosho’s ducted fan that the biggest engine , if all concealed AAMs and rocketengines ( RATO PODS ) are stripped of this GM-1 could house is a 45 kN PW 800 or PW-10X ( or HTF7000 ).

Both would bring the power to weight ratio beyond 1:1.
Since the Cold War, Russia has intervened a few times to help pro-Russian minorities secede from former Soviet republics. In one case, the minority was a minority even in the territory it claimed as its own, & Russia helped it to expel half of the population. The Georgian war was a result of such post Cold War Russian interventions.
The Baltic states know this very well. There’s a political group which claims to represent the Russian minority in Estonia, & which publishes maps showing a huge area of Estonia, including almost half the population, as the territory it wants for an autonomous Russian region within Estonia, which it says would need protection by Russia. See any similarities with Georgia & Moldova? The Estonians do – and it makes them jittery.
Yeah it is curious…there are powerful neo-nazi groups in Russia. In 1991 that seemed very unlikely.

The Galcit rocket is not dead !
:eagerness:
Really?! Look at the map that flight was as close to Helsinki as it was to Stockholm. To stay serious both were caught with the pants down when NATO fighters saved their day. 😉
Indeed they did. At present there are no jets stationed in Helsinki. Do you suggest that we bring our capitol closer to AF base ?
As far as I can remember Sovits flew in our air space as they will. We will only be alarmed when bombs start dropping and scramble. After that there is no soviet AF…:D
I actually recall NATO planes have crossed our air space more often than Russia..in recent times..or equally.
Who of the countries on route had sent fighters to intercept or verify that flight at least. 😉
I think our AF at present won’t go that far south if not necessary. Definitely if not crossing finnish air space there was no reason to go there.
Last time ( and the only time ) Swedish AF was in battle contact with russian AF was 1939-1940.
Biggest last large battle between Sweden and Russia was in 1709 when Sweden lost the Poltava battle in which Czar Peter the Great excelled.

Hi Paul F !
Yes you are correct. The average room per passenger and luggage has been cut down to 1/8 of the similar space in Boeing 747…almost no luggage and 1/4 room in the passenger side. There is a good side too..other vise it could be really cold up in 20-25 km. Everyone closer together would make the place heat up a bit.
At this stage when there is still some oil left this is practically useless for business. But who knows and if I am no longer around this could be resurrected in 2040-2050 ?

Just in case I am not going to build the bays for a small scale model with a ducted fan unit. 😀
Or maybe I should the air might flow better around the fan in low re number region ?
The second shot shows ones added after the original design came up short.
Okay first 15 and added perhaps 12 more ?
Density of the air is 1.2 in sea level but only 0.36 at 11 km.
In 32 km the pressure is only 1/100 of the sealevel…and in 100 km altitude gravity pulls only at 9.5 newtons. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/weather/wstdatmo.htm
I edited my supercarrier too. With 2 x 10 000 shp water jetengines.
Where to land? 😉
On the deck of course. Craft goes 65 kts nearly as fast as the GM-1 on STOL mode 80-85 kts.

I take it these miniture aircraft are to flown by Munchkins as no normal size human would fit.
The ramp launched 104s and 100s did not use Rato or Jato as they are some times called bottles.
They used a special system that was never put into production.
Rato bottles are now all gone and no more are being produce.
The last were used to demonstrate how they were used for take off assistance on either the Thunderbirds or Blue Angels C-130. The are all gone now. Many years ago, Walt Arfons tried to use them in cluster to set a land speed record. They did not produce enough thrust to even get the car up to 500 mph so how a Rato bottle would make your aircraft supersonic would me a rewriting of basic physics, which on paper of come into absolute conflict with the forces of the natural world.
I have 185 cm pilot on this design..average finn is 182 cm tall.
Rato bottles are gone…but this has also basic turbofan that pushes this at 0.67 power to weight ratio which is already 20% better than in SR-71.
5 000 kg D-21 moved mach 3.5 with only 6.67 kN ( max weight of GM-1 ) !
Gnat was about same size …( 29 ft long )…also the USAF microfighters by Northrop, Boeing and Lockheed in the 70ies.
You also have to remember that BD-5J is only 12.5 ft long…and carries a man at 500 km/h.
I could make this much smaller, but made it intentionally big to fit in the two AAMs ( MBDA MICA ).
8 big missiles need 9 cubic meters empty space if concealed..that is 3 cubic meters more space than this entire aircraft.
I figure to be absolutely stealth you also need to have size reduced.
Walt Alfons was interesting…any idea how many RATOs did he use ?

Okay Paralay…I won’t show you all details how this will be made. :highly_amused: Maybe you ought to study how Draken wing was made ( J-35 ).
Here is the 200 mio USD unit that consists of a fast stealth aircraft carrier and 18 STOL stealth fighters.
5th gen PAK-FAs are there to give scale ( are in the same scale ).
Does anyone know if these Galcit rocket boosters are still valid and usable or something better available.
They seem to be pretty effective..I found that some 16 kilo rocket can boost 3.6 kN for several seconds.
Did F-100 and F-104 use Galcit rockets as well in RATO take off ?
Tom Cruise to star in alien adventure Yukikaze
Los Angeles, April 17, 2013
Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is reportedly set to play the lead role in sci-fi movie Yukikaze, an adaptation of a Japanese novel series by Chohel Kamayashi.
The big-budget Hollywood film will be set three decades after alien force JAM invades Earth through a wormhole that appears over Antarctica.
I want to see it.
TopSpeed, draw, is located in the wing spars 😉
I did not get it…what draw ?
If you mean that stucture is not okay ..then your worry is baseless.
Wing is basicly a rectangle and a grid structure applies.

You can fit it on the Gripen and even smaller ac if you really want it. The cost is usually less fuel unless its a conformal bay that is added on the outside of the body.
Sure is it costs fuel load like the 27 mm 170 ammos do. Also oxygen system and linkages all do. Landing gear usually do the most.
Thing is that a smaller engine with bigger rockets was able to carry 4 AAMs this doesn’t since the engine room took the space. This could easily carry in addition externally 2 AMRAAMs and 2 x 450 liter drop tanks..anything more looks funny.
What I am most worried now is how all fuel, engines and rockets and AAM/ammos do with each others….engines can create +1400 C.
Main point is that this is 1/10th in fuel consumption of the J-39 Gripen ( that is already small ) and thus 1/10 fuel is needed also onboard.
In what way are they different? You are still talking about rectangular thrust vectored nozzles…
Because the thrust vectoring is only used with slats+flaperons together to gain short landings and take offs..this is ( could be ) nimble without thrust vectoring in combat.
Here is how this is sized with Me-163 and SS1.
SS1 program cost only 25 mio USD; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceShipOne
The BD-10 was a deathtrap. It was also not a fighter with the associated weight of weapons, fuel, avionics, ejection seat, etc…
BD-10 was awesome jet that had over 1:1 power to weight ratio ( unfortunately ). Rutan used similar sized engine in larger ARES ( which only was capableto reach speeds of mach 0.6 ) which also carried GAU-12.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZGB32keRfw
It does look like a cheap toy ( to be marketed as a supersonic homebuilt )…and despite claim of mach 0.9 cruise…it never went faster than Mach 0.83. It should have have a sticker in the dashboard DO NOT EXCEED 400 MPH !
