    Bill Ramsey was Captain

I bet he is promoted to a major after this flight.

Well flown and touch downs were perfect.

I think they would have set up a stage there for Jean Michel Jarre who would have hypnotized everyone with the song OXYGENE ….and everyone would have surrendered. As a free gift for each argentinian they would have given a plastic rubberband powered ornitopter…and everyone would have been happy.

What is it like posting to yourself on a public forum?.

    Good day Silver Fox !

Somewhat surprised of your comment, but very thankful.

I usually get banned for posting my planes on finnish sites.

I just try to show that flying electric with 1/10th power of the “normal” planes is possible.

I am convinced that I can save the world by doing this.

    best regards,

I am a bit skeptic about MARS flying nowadays.

Mars does have just 38% of the gravity compared to Earth but the air is equivalent to 30 km on Earth in density.

    http://www.universetoday.com/14859/gravity-on-mars/

So practically anything that is capable to fly on earth at 20-30 km ( FL700-FL1000 ) most likely flies on Mars as long as it not an air breathing system.

Several expeditions were being planned to fly on Mars; http://marsairplane.larc.nasa.gov/

Q-100 observation aircraft for MARS is my favourite design ( with all it shortcomings and lack of lifting fuselage etc.). It is just cool….and fantastic.

I have a hunch that if Soviets had invaded the Argentine the escaped nazi decendants in Argentina would have opened up the well known “nazi gold” reserves and summoned the spirit of Kurt Tank and Willy Messerschmitt to help. This would have resulted a plethora of killing machines that no one can even imagine. With help of these advanced machines the argentinian AF could have easily won the Falkland incident rendering the entire Soviet fleet into oblivion. Fast naval attack by the Argentinian navy via Pacific Ocean ( just over the pond actually ) into direction Magadan /Provideniya and following “super blitzkrieg” over in a week and Moscow would have surrendered unconditionally.

We would have more spanish speaking people in neighbour and tundra would be called just cool pampa after that. I am not sure if any known computer scenario backs this up, but pretty much sure this would have been the result.

These imaginative scenarios are so much fun to play with. Any others to think about ?

I would even activate them as red air. It will be a nightmare trying to track and shoot them. Even in an F-35

What if you try to use “FORCE”…..and if that doesn’t work call a serb to shoot it down ? Then just a go buy a dollar ninety nine Radio Shack low band radar to track it down ? 😀

It will be a bit more boxy from now on.

More room for stick inside and legs.

Strakes also simplified the wing…which was bugging me.

Unlikely. Germany never completed its carrier.

Yes I mean if they had have the opportunity ( or what ever ) to get it done…then there could have been a change. Sinking of Tirpitz and Birmarck possibly slightly hindered the Third Reich activities on open seas sure.

I suppose the Spitfire could have been N Ireland based.

    Here’s a real story: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-13924720

There could have also been carrier borne Me-109 T.

Really interesting. Thanks for the updates

That is a very high-lift aerofoil section, and very long wings too, like a motor glider.

    Yes thanks Propstrike !

The AR is high but plane is very small.
The L/D for the foil at Re 4M is beyond 210 !

Much hasn’t happened since I have been working and inventing other stuff like moose resistent electric car with 1000 km range, vertical axis windmill, twin engine high flying solar powered research aeroplane just to mention few.

I started doing, after having made 50 odd compressed laminate composite planks, air foils with the stuff.

It is hard, durable and very easy to work with.

    ——

I am going to widen the forward fuselage to get a good amount of movement for the stick…also the wing will be simpler….a lot simpler.

Unfortunately the F-117 will never be as stealthy as more modern non-faceted designs. The electrical discontinuity created by the facets are scattering sources. This increases the size of the fuzzball.

There are several durability issues which would be expensive to fix before adding new tech gizmos. And USAF intentionally passed up the opportunity to install upgrades.

USAF was eager to retire it for $s and more effective jets in the pipeline.

I recall from the video somewhere it was unrecoverable if you stalled it. I figure that would happen if you tried any “dogfighting” with it.

F-117 has the flight characteristics of an A-7. That is why several A-7Ds were outfitted as F-117 trainers.

Despite the name given to it by an aviation writer, it is certified to level 1 flying qualities and is rock steady during flight allowing the two infrared targeting turrets to stay on target.

And yes, it can loop and roll. Negative G flight is limited to 30 seconds to keep the oil sumps from running dry. Similar negative G restrictions are placed on other tactical jets.

I never saw it loop or roll in any of the videos. But if you say so I believe ya.

Did it have chaff and flares….jamming systems ?
