My old friend and school teacher at one time was called ‘Pranger’ Eric Barfoot as he wrote of a few aircraft in his time in the RAF. He did write of his favourite a Gloster Gladiator when it had a tyre bust on landing, 18/10/43.

Those where the days when you could build a Spitfire on front drive. Don’t happen any more.

Thanks I missed it I had just been taking photos of the hellcat and turned to take some of the following Bearcat. then looked around to see the Hellcat stopped. With truck and fire engine close by. I did take shots afterwards but not sure how to use this new laptop!

Looks like the Hawker parts that went into the Demon. That know lives at Shuttleworth. It has been flying for some years.

A T6 did have a problem, it pulled out of the race. Trailing smoke, landed ok with a hot engine. The Hellcat taxed into a truck I think. I turned to take a photo of the Bearcat following so missed it. No one looked hurt. They moved the Hellcat back to the pits. Later moved it again with prop tips covered.

There was an article about its building some years ago in the Aeroplane monthly.

Eric, Yes they did want the wood from the spar. They also owe me a beer. Next time we meet, We can drink. I think bits of glider from the workshop have been used all over Europe.

I had a good time at Lasham. I had a few people try to buy my Kite 1’s off me. I did take an old L Spats wing down for the Germans, who wanted the metal fittings of it. Spent a bit of time rigging our old Kirby Kite and Grunau Baby.
Dave
Its been on before, may be last year.
