I had a good look inside the orange P-63 when it was in the hanger, soon after it arrived. I think we had just put G-AGTM ( Russavia’s Rapide) to bed and wandered across to it.

I thought he live at his thatched house in Billington until he died. I worked on his roof once. He is buried in the church yard there. I shall have to ask a friend of mine, who is a friend of Tim’s family. He also has a copy of his book.

William Leefe Robinson was a POW with Tim Hervery of 60sdn. Tim Hervery was later the first chief instrutor at the London Gliding Club in the 1930’s. He wrote a book about being a POW. Which i have read but forgoten the title? Robinson and Hervey had both tried to escape a few times. I believe that the book was use in training aircrews in ww2. In the art of evading.

I saw a photo album over 10 years ago at Bletchley Park owned by a guy called Cliff. I cant remember his surname. He had been on Mosquito’s during the war and was in post war Germany. In the album their where photo’s of piloted V1’s without canopys on the production line. He said the had control columns and rudder bars. I tried to get some copies of the photo’s but he became ill and i think he passed away. He lived in London and use to pop up to our museum from time to time.

As a kid my dad made me know what a Hurricane and Spitfire look like. I would be in trouble if I got it wrong! Dad used his Aeroplane Spotter’s to teach me. Thats proberly why i’m not a great lover of Spitfires. Its a nice aeroplane and like to see them. but I cant understand why people rave over them. Think I might get shot now!
