    The reason i said the aircraft could be Hart trainers as the cowlings seem to be polished. The Osprey had light grey cowlings.

    The aircraft look to me like they could be Hart trainers, with the exhaust pipes runing down in front of the lower wing.

    I was told by my Dad who was working on the SG38 (EON 7) glider, That all work on the Wallace had stopped,

    In RAF squadrons by WC C.G Jefford, It says 430sqn was at B78 Eindhoven from 4 Oct 44 to Nov 44.

    ex modeler use to build plastic and balsa aeroplanes.
    Dad use to tell me off for getting Hurricanes and Spitfires mixed up.
    Was a Shuttleworth VAS in late 60’s.
    Ex ATC cadet 460sqdn flew in Chipmunks and T31’s.
    Owned a few Vintage Gliders.
    Was a volunteer with Mike Russells Russavia, great days at Duxford.
    Worked with my father ( Peter Underwood) on many Vintage gliders.
    Was part of the Buckinghashire Aircraft Recovery Group at Bletchley Park. We had a small museum there!
    Collector of old Aeroplane bits.
    Avation Historian, Have helped a few people over the years.
    Owner of the ultimate flying machine, Luton Minor G-ASEA. which i am restoring.:diablo:

    When we had the DH2 flying replica at Duxford, this had a deactivated Lewis gun. The gun had been fitted with a blanking plate under the ammo drum. I did find scale plans for the Lewis in an early Scale Modeler magazine late 70s/early 80s.

    The History of the Glider Pilot Regiment by Claude Smith has a chapter on Operation Dragoon. Also Horsa Squadron by Will Morrison who flew in this operation .

    First flight in a DH Dragon Rapide at Luton 1959 or 60 cant remeber. Sat on dads lap at rear near door. First glider flight in T21 at Bicester 1969. First Hot air ballon flight at Dunstable. First Airship flight from Cardington.

    The US Navy airships ‘Akron’ and ‘Macon’ was used as an aerial aircraft carriers in the 1930s. The used Curtiss F9c Sparrowhawks. When the wreck of the Macon was found in the Pacific some years ago the remains of three Sparrowhawks where in the wreckage!
