Gordon King got it from North Weald in a exchange for a B25 nose. He had it a Coal House Fort, Essex. I went with him and a few others to Coal House fort to pick it up and we took it to Bletchley Park for a while. Later he was told to get it of site. It then went to Harrington. He ( Gordon ) had a deal with a paint company to use there paint and he chose the US Navy scheme. It was painted at Harrington. I only saw once at Harrington.

The wings of the Hawkridge Dagling where built by Slingsby pre war. From what we have found Hawkridge use lots of old built parts then made a glider. The Hawkridge Kittiwake was just a repaired Slingsby Gull 3 that they repaired then put a new canopy on it. This was replaced when Mike Beach restored the Gull 3. I now have this Hawkridge canopy. The other surviving Dagling is a A frame that Nigel Ponsford has, plus a rib. I do have a couple of old broken Slingsby Dagling main spars I piked up at Sutton Bank some years ago.
At Dunstable( London Gliding Club if they wanted a nacelled Dagling they built the nacelle in the workshop. An old man who lived near me, now passed away worked there before the war told me this.

We were at Pima museum last September, They asked us and other British people if they knew anybody with a Spitfire, that would give them it. Didn’t go down well with us as we where not spitfire fans!

Sad news. I met him at my fathers house when he and his son came to look at the Dragon parts. He will be missed.

It landed near the Harrington Carter works, just of Periwinkle lane. I dont think the bomb had anything to do with the death of Worthington Smith . It was just his age and getting to cold. I have not seen the bomb fragment at Bedford yet.
