Horrifying that something as old and rare as an ANT-4 is left outside in a climate like Russia’s…
She should certainly be allowed to stay where she is. I visited the museum shortly after she was delivered, and the staff were pleased as punch to have her there.
A380 says “Hello Heathrow”
Made a last-minute decision to hot-foot it to Heathrow today, and I’m glad I did…
Bang on cue she arrived:

Crowds were almost Concorde-esque..

The moment of aviation history was live on BBC Radio Five Live…
And this old girl’s days as Queen of the Skies, might just be numbered…

Great thing to witness.
“Chav Canberra” in that to the layman it has the appearance of a Vauxhall Nova owned by a Burberry-clad layabout who’s stuck a load of bodykit on! 😉
The greatest comic actor Britain has ever produced. Hard call between Fletcher and Arkwright as his best characters, but as above, some of his wordplay in The Two Ronnies was awesomely funny and clever.
A man who was proof that great comedy doesn’t need to be crass, crude, sexual or profane.
It really is “goodnight from him”. What a legacy though.

It’s a wonderful place, and speaking as someone from the “younger” generation, I hope it continues to flourish for many years and I’m able to take my children and children’s children to shows there. Tis what aviation is all about!
A weekly magazine show would be good. Expensive to produce though in theory. Incidentally, if you need a presenter or voice-over chappie, I know one going very cheap… 😉
Looks like a lovely time was had by all. Gutted I couldn’t make it in the end… 🙁
Childhood trips to shows at Cosford and Coventry, the opening of the “new” Birmingham Airport in pouring rain, Airfix kits of Spitfires and Hurricanes, Matchbox 2-tone models of Fairey Seafoxes and Brewster Buffaloes… Hooked for life.
Three hours superb entertainment
As opposed to four, five and six hours at other venues which cost less! Don’t get me wrong, I love Duxford – it’s a unique place, but I do think their pricing structure is way out of line.
Weather is the key factor to any airshow – and can’t be helped. I didn’t go this weekend due to other commitments, but as an otherwise regular at Duxford, I’ll have my two pennorth with regards to Duxford’s pricing policy.
I think that to the average Joe in the street it is beginning to spiral a little out of hand. £23 for what – even in good weather – was a pretty average line-up is an awful lot of loot. £27 for Legends can just about be justified because of the “star” items, but charging £4 less for this show smacks of opportunism. The flightline walks, in my view aren’t worth the bother, unless you have escorted press access to the aircraft. Certainly they’re not worth £5. And this business of charging extra for premium seating, a la RIAT is getting very worrying. I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers the situation at Legends, where one now has to virtually arrive the night before to bag a decent view on the flightline…
I appreciate that the “home team” at Duxford is the envy of most of Europe, but how much of the gate money goes towards keeping them in the air? Anyone have an answer?
Sincere condolences, and the thoughts of me and my family are with you Dan.
I love it when a plan comes together!
