Talking of Star Wars, I’m always frustrated when I see this scene from Episode II, Attack of the Clones. They be Hunter blast tubes which are getting like rocking-horse plop these days. I wouldn’t feel quite so bad if I actually liked the film, but compared to the original trilogy, the new films don’t even come close for me. 🙁

Was at Yeovilton today and saw the Vixen arrive loud and fast! Looked magnificent!
The hangar is now used by Glanford Aviation.
Really? How do you know? 😀 (sorry!)
I’m sure David Collins will be along in due course and he’ll be able to tell you all you could possibly want to know, but in the meantime I can tell you the little I know.
I drew the illustrations that went in to the Dalrymple & Verdun Hornet book mentioned in the die-cast forum you linked to in your first post. The profile I posted above is one of the 4-view set of WB880 from the book. The caption that accompanied the 4-view gives the basic info of the aircraft, i.e. F.3 WB880 c1955 operated by the Far East Training Squadron at RAF Seletar and RAF Butterworth.
I really like this colour scheme, especially as the spinners are painted in such a way that they form the RAF roundel when viewed from the front.
Over to you DC!

This one?
In practice this might mean that once a photo has lost its copyright notice (assuming it ever had one) by for instance it being stripped by harvesting or database software or even manually, it is fair game for others to exploit.
In theory it’s not quite as simple as that. As I understand it you have to prove that you have made all efforts to contact the original copyright owner before using the material. What actually constitutes ‘proof’ though and how strenuous you have to be in seeking out the original owner I don’t know. I suspect it’ll be very little in both cases though, and everything without metadata or some other copyright notice will be fair game.
I tried to contact him several times to purchase some Tempest drawings to use as a basis for some book artwork a couple of years ago. I’m still waiting for a reply! In the end I found some ripped-off drawings on a Russian website and used those instead. His loss.
He was on his stall and looking well at the Scale Model World show in Telford last November.
Hi Howard, just wanted to ask is it because you’re out of space of the museum website re taking the pics of the old Fests down,

Yes, saw it. Thought it was excellent.
This sort of stuff is what I pay my TV License for.
it is the cloth cover which is riveted around the drogue apeture and covers the chute itself.
Yes, that’s definitely the “Sleeve” then. Any one of the three I quoted above will do you. They’re not always the easiest thing to find, but at least you know what you’re looking for now.
I’ll have a look at the spares I have to see if any are suitable, but I don’t think there are in all honesty.
As for the face screen handle – it is held in the front of the headbox by two conical ‘pegs’ (one each side) which fit into holes in the front of the headbox – see attached. They’re held firm by spring loaded plungers inside the holes (items 15 & 16) so do take a little bit of force to pull out. The handle should just pull straight out though so if it’s not shifting then the spring loaded bit inside is probably corroded and stuck. If you can remove the cover plates (10 & 11) then you should be able to get in there and free them up.
I presume you’re referring to the “Sleeve, Protective” that covers the packed drogue chute? I don’t think I’ve got a correct spare but, if it helps, there are 3 options and their stores refs and Martin Baker part numbers are,
27L/2838 MBEU/217G (Pre Mod 2211)
27L/3054 MBEU/24360 (Mod 2211, Pre Mod 2859)
27L/3508 MBEU/28379 (Mod 2859)
Good luck,
Mark
I am sure we will all give it a fair chance. But the moment one of the pilots turns up with a Labrador, then gets the chop, cue mournful shot of dog sitting looking to the sky, then I’m out of there.
Moggy
Presumably you refuse to watch “The Battle of Britain” for the same reason then Moggy?! :diablo:
Thanks chaps. Hurricane Mk.I it is then.
I’d always assumed they would be Mk.Is but the seed of doubt was sown recently when I read something on RAF Pembrey which described 316 Squadron as flying Mk.IIs from there. The author of that has clearly got the chronology confused.
Cheers,
Mark
Single-seat Hunter for me please!

Ritch, send me the number. I should be able to help.
