I will quit the punishment for today and go home. yes please go ahead and compare to the rest of the munitions and post your figures. all of their dimensions should be known.

even if we take it to be 3 times its still 700mm+

if the drawing is right, the nose is plenty big, if the drawing is wrong Yahoo25 is again exposed as a flamebaiting troll.

    shame shame.

btw has anyone noticed the clearly labelled R-60MK missile
under the wing. Its length is 2140mm per the link below

    http://www.astronautix.com/lvs/r60.htm

looking the pic the radar dish looks 2.5 times less than the missile. i.e. 856mm . here is a photo of the missile
there is nothing much behind the tailfins.

    http://www.acig.org/artman/uploads/aphid.jpg

We expect the MMR is smaller than 856mm. Leads me to think
the drawing is not properly to scale.

I think yahoo25 again got his legs chopped from below. a self-inflicted wound I might add.

Nobody in the project is saying it will use the heavy Zhuk-M. the
comparable antenna sized PS-05 is around 160kg (!).

how much does the MMR weigh and in size ? unless someone has
reliable data on MMR why are they speaking on this topic ?

yes Arthur needs to explain his claim.

I check the cutaway drawing in flight international and it doesnt
have any dimensions, so there must be another source he is using.

    Zhuk-M is 624mm

    http://www.hostultra.com/~migalley/zhukm_radar.html

    QED. a gripen or mirage can use it with a 24mm = 2.4cm = < 1in
nose enlargement job or the antenna can be trimmed by 1 inch.

So the LCA can use such a radar antenna too – RDY2 / PS05 / ZhukM sized.

    PS05 is 600mm.

if Rafael makes the Litenings in israel, even if it were equal or nearly equal would still lose to the US domestic competitors.

What kind of standoff laser weapons are launched from 50kft and
48 miles away ? High flying B52/B1 may find such a capability useful but dont regular a2g planes just drop from around 20kft and 15-20km away at most ?

I have lost track of FC-1 lately, can someone give the latest update on
what type of FBW it is using ?

also in a more general sense what advantage if any does digital have on
    analog FBW ?

before wildly f**ting here people should atleast read up a little bit.

LCA went supersonic 12 months ago – 8/2/2003

it has also been tested in the usual hi-G stuff (not upto the very
limits) , reheat climb , sundry types of rolls etc. all of such info
has been reported in various media.

and just to administer another slap to those who selectively quote
vested elements in the indian media as the only opinion to suit
their wierd fantasties, here are a couple of good articles from the
same media. Not all are paid for and lazy , Frontline mag has the best
science reporting in india a tradition it inherits from its parent
    The Hindu newspaper.

iirc ALL the LCA testpilots are from the Mirage2000 stream because they
are experienced in handling problem with delta a/c. The first couple had even used M2K in bombing missions in kargil.
They are very qualified to compare handling qualities between M2KH and LCA.

I think the point is Aster/SM2 are limited presently and forseeable future
to guidance by their launch platform which has a certain radar horizon say 40km LOS.

If inbound low flying a.c or ASMs below this horizon cannot be detected
by 3rd parties like AEW helos or E2 and speed, direction and height not
passed on to the launch ship, the ship itself cannot see and hence launch the Aster. It will be able to launch soon as its own radar sees the incoming.

even if the initial attack cords are passed to the ship and thence downloaded to the Aster INS , the incoming can change its dance and further updates will be needed to make sure when the seeker is turned on the missile is at the best point.
