Can someone give me a little hint what type of harness and parachute pack I have to look for? Those MK1, 2 and 3 type harnesses are still a bit confuding to me.
If someone would have kind of a drawing or Type xxx harness name that would fit or even be similar that would be great.
I guess I have to build one scratch somehow but at least having an idea would be great.
    Thank you in advance.

First of all, happy new year to all of you.

Terry and Bill, many thanks for the manual copies and informtation.
Corrosion wise the seat is in a pretty good condition in regards to his age. Build Date 8-7-57 seat S/N 419
the only corrion I found in a brief overview was the buttom area at the seat hight adjustment mechanis.
Bassically the area that can been seen on Terrys picture no. 3 of post #6.
Other than that just very light spots. It was stored in a dry barn for couple of years. It the oldest seat I have and ever worked on.
I’m pretty firm with the Mk4 to 10 seats but the Mk2 types are let’s say a bit different 🙂
I will take a few pictures this week of the lower handle and leg lines area.
It will be a long term project as I have a 10A and GT5 to be taken care off first.
If I can’t find any original parachute container over the time I thing I will also start making one myself. Have a old GQ Backpack type parachute which should be the same or similar material.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Tobias

    Thanks for the link.
I know both links but they don’t show my type of seat although they are very similiar.
The 2D Sea Hawk seat on the flickr link is with foot rest which I don’t have, so I think Royal Navy and deutsche Marine Version was different.

    Hello to all the collectors.
I want to show some pieces of my Tornado project.
The main panel is more or less complete.
I’m missing the Rad altimeter, 1 nozzle pos indicator and 1 RPM. A second would be great to replace the one with broken glas.
Also I have few bits for trade or sell like one engine Temp indicator, a HUD, moving map or the GMR Screen positioned left of the HUD.

    Many thanks for your replies.
Indeed it must be in official german hands. Also it states it was downgraded to “open” in 1966.

Thanks Bill for sharing those. The top view is very interesting.I have some drogue chutes from the GAF GQ7 seat spare. That should be good enough to fill the empty top box for display now.
Does anyone know why there is the little black flap/metal piece on the shakle? As far as I know thats unique to the MK9 seats.Haven’t seen that on any other seat before.
An other part that is unknown to me is the one in the red circle.Any idea?
    Thank you.

    Dear Bill,

thank you for the answer. The seat is for static display use of course.Already thought about stichin a new one but I want to keep as much original parts of it as possible.
Maybe I will cut off the chewed parts a bit and try so reinforce it by resewing them.Just to have something there until I find a better one.
You don’t see much of the line anyway?? The visible part going through the Guillotine is still in good shape.

Is this a MK9 as flown in the harrier or is it a modified seat to fit in a sim as it is right now?
In my eyes the only interesting part of the “Harrier Cockpit”.
