Meanwhile, back at the thread….
Nikon D7000 with Sigma 120-400mm 19th October 2013 1/500 f11 with ISO 200
This is the same shot at full frame. So lots of cropping.
A dusk shot taken on 22nd November 2013 with an Air Canada A330 passing. Nikon D7000 with Sigma 120-400mm 1/160 at F5.6 ISO200. Taken through a window so a bit of ghosting.
A daylight with C-141 passing in front. Taken on 18th Feb 2005 with Nikon D70 and Sigma 170-500mm lens. 1/800 and f6.3 ISO200

Set your camera to spot metering and set the aperture to around f8,or whatever the lens is best at. At ISO 200 you should get a shutter speed of around 1/250 on a full moon. The best moonshots are normally when it is between quarter and full i.e quite bright but still with some shadows. Be prepared to take a few camera shake is likely. I’ve had some decent images with 400mm lens. Much less and it will be a struggle.
I’ll post up some of my efforts if you are interested.
Long exposures will not work with the moon. It is too bright.

I would guess at something like 1920 maybe? Maybe even later than that. Once aviation spread around the globe?

Sadly F1 has become dull as dishwater. Up until recently I would watch most Grand Prix but now as soon as I see Vettel take the lead I get bored and switch off. It has become a procession with stupid rules and even more stupid amounts of money involved. The authorities fiddle and tweak the rules whereas what is need is a wholesale review of the rules and regulations. Rules governing driver numbers and double points for the last race will not stop the downward spiral.
Up until a few years ago it used to exciting and interesting to watch. Now it isn’t.

Most of these ‘immigrants’ speak English as a second language rather than French, so I suppose it makes more sense for them to try to come here rather than France.
I can’t say I really blame immigrants for wanting a better life for themselves and their children. Thinking about tradesmen, I find that immigrants work very hard, do what they say they will do when one engages them, clean up when they’ve finished, do not make excuses for not being able to complete a job on time, do not sit on their a***s all day drinking tea during my time and generally take a pride in their work.
Do any of us know what it must be like to live in those places they come from on a day-to-day basis? If we did, I’m sure we would have more sympathy.
The voice of reason.:applause:
Humans have moved to where living conditions were better since humans could walk. It is difficult to see this as any different to that sort of migration.
We are, after all, all immigrants to some extent.

Re 144
And everyone – yes, that many – takes the #iss out of derekf
What does the ‘f’ stand for? Some of the more irreverant communicators will invent something !
Doesn’t look like anyone has joined you on your rib-tickling japes at the expense of someone’s initials. Oh dear.
What about freedom of speech?
If what somebody says is ‘wrong’ you should be able to prove it, or at least argue it…
…if you can’t…..maybe they are right!
What. You mean like a discussion forum, where those whose opinions differ join in adult and respectful exchanges? Nah. Never happen.
The thing to do is not to put yourself in the firing line. Unfortunately some can’t help it. .
It’s called an OPINION. I appreciate that you are not particularly receptive to those with opinions that differ from your own but that does not give you carte blanche to insult them. You’re very fortunate it’s a largely unmoderated forum. Members do seem to get away with more than I would have expected more from a forum associated with a respected publisher.
If you can’t get your point across without abusing others then you’ve lost the argument. Well and truly.
It’s irreverent actually 🙂

Another excellent Key thread but it degenerates as they all tend to do.
charliehunt uses it an excuse for his BBC-bashing – (no bonus EU mention as well? if not, why not) to boost his rather excessive post count.
Lincoln_7 uses it to have a go MP’s expenses, (or pretty much anything else that he thinks of….thread-related or not).
ZRX61 uses the thread to have a go at Barack Obama.
MoggyC has a go at everyone – and is ignored…..
John Green makes some cryptic comment that no-one, least of all himself I suspect, understands.
Paul178 makes a funny comment that no-one finds funny.
Creaking Door makes his usual incisive, fair and balanced comments – and is ignored for doing so.
and everyone’s sense of humour will fail – all at once…..
Good stuff – it’s why I keep coming back. :highly_amused:
Oh. Can someone quote this post in their reply so Lincoln_7 and charliehunt can see it? Thanks. 🙂

Sadly and as usual you resort to insult. “Vacuous” “Addled” “Pathetic”
If you cannot get your point across without resorting to petty naming calling and insult then you can continue your diatribe without reply from me.
I know about these incidents, I’m just trying to understand how Nelson Mandela was guilty of murder in these cases when he was in jail at the time. The South African laws on murder must be different from the UK. In the UK you generally have to have committed the crime in order to be found guilty of it. As you well know, Nelson Mandela was never charged or convicted of murder but that has been ignored – as usual. You’ve also missed the bits about the South African Defence forces cross-border operations and the many that they killed. In some eyes they might be regarded as “freedom fighter” but by others as terrorists.
You have ignored the numerous times I have mentioned about how Nelson Mandela was not a saint or that he did indeed take to violence but obviously you ignore those bits to get your point across.
Anyway, I can’t bothered with any of this. It isn’t going to change the minds of anyone, least of all those whose minds are closed already.
