I’m sure that many of us expect you to have an opinion, no matter how distorted. What is interesting, is the frequency with which your opinion is out of ‘synch’ with other opinions. It seems to happen too often to be just coincidence.

Many of the people who bang on about how vile PC stuff is seem to me to want carte blanche to say what they like without fear of reproach.
They might think it’s funny to refer to a black person as a n*gger for instance–it’s only a joke after all–isn’t it..??
How about kikes, dagos, w*gs and spicks–they’re all humorous nicknames too aren’t they??

Nope. It’s called an “opinion”. Your examples “bald,” “fat,” “overweight,” ” obese” “skinny” are hardly insulting but rather statements of fact. There are other words that people are called that are much worse and that are based on predjudice and bigotry. Should those people just grin and bear the insults as well?

No research and but not much guesswork either. Again, another opinion based on experience. The key words being “I would imagine” at the beginning of my paragraph.
The problem is that much of this PC stuff is based on myth. The BBC haven’t abandoned “actress” or call everyone “guys”. Isn’t that mischief making as well?
You seem to think that being PC denies others their opinion and yet would appear to stop me from having mine.

If dictating to others means that offensive words and phrases can’t be used to denigrate and abuse others then that is a good thing. I cannot see why anyone would think otherwise.

There are those who think decrying PC means that they can throw insults around without any consequence to the feelings of anyone else. We see it on this forum and in the wider world. To be honest many do it just to get a reaction in much the same way as babies cry to get attention.

I would imagine that the vast majority of those decrying PC will be white and male. The section of society has been oppressed the least. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

We saw Cars 2 in the cinema so I think we’ll try and catch this as well. Looks good.

If being PC means being polite, considerate and mindful of other’s feelings then I’m happy to be labelled as such.

The three LPs mentioned are the only Iron Maiden LPs I have. For me, they went a bit “Spinal Tap” after that.

Heavy Metal doesn’t get much better then this.
