    Money doesn’t bring class.
I know, I had some once.

    Which? Money or class? 🙂

Culture? How so? Your manager thought it inappropriate, you thought it inappropriate, so why wear it?

I’m not having a go but if you are using this an example of how sensitive you are it may be, and indeed has been, intrepreted another way.

Oh OK. And changing your shirt wasn’t an option then. Fair enough.
To be honest, I don’t think that would be a good example to show how “sensitive” you are. Possibly the reverse.

Thanks for the feedback all, with reference to this question, we are a secure area with pre booked, pre planned visits only – too much technical kit and data around the place. So, if anybody does come in, we clear up, shave and put on our Sunday best..

Fair enough. I come from customer-facing background so I am very aware of what to say and when to say it.

I had to break the news today to my assistant, and now look after him. I’m checking back over a lot of things we say and do, and will highlight (for example) my sensitivity to my colleagues by reminding them that last week I was working at home and declined to join a meeting by Video link (just audio) because I was wearing my “achtung Spitfire” T-shirt, and we had colleagues from Germany on the call.

I am baffled by this. Why on earth would you choose not to take part even if it is audio only?

Bullying and harrassment in the workplace is something that is all too common. Banter is one thing and most are happy to join in. Not everyone is though.

Legislation like this was brought about in an attempt to stop bullying and harrassment in the work-place, something I hope nobody would condone. Unfortunately in many organizations the legislation has been overzealously applied by many HR groups and it rather demeans the spirit of the legislation which was meant to protect employees, not victimize them.
And before the usual suspects blame the EU, I work for a US company and we have to through the same ethics and diversity training. The way of the world these days.

Having said that, what if a customer had overheard your banter? They may not have understood the in-jokes and may leave with a less-than-favourable impression. What effect might that have had?

You surprise me with your “left ” wing views, I binned Sky and will not entertain it as long as the Murdoch Mafia have involvement, similarly I wouldn’t light a fire with that rag The Sun for similar reasons.

I take it then that would be happy to allow a monopoly situation to develop in British broadcasting, with Sky the controlling body, not for me thanks.

What on earth has being left wing got to do with subscribing to Sky? I subscribe to Sky as it gives the best value for the TV package I want.

Why would BskyB have a monopoly?

If enough people stopped paying the licence the BBC would run out of money, stop making programmes and so there wouldn’t be any catch up for you to watch anyway.

Of course he was after a reaction but to have him arrested is such as massive waste of police time. The same police we are told that are so under-manned and over-worked but can waste time on this little scrote and an internet picture.
