RE: Scottish Airports receive £6 million boost
Spoke to my mates wife this morning. Turns out he’s swapping over to Britannia in January as there is a better chance of getting a GLA base there.
SkyCruiser – Worth shoving a CV at Air Scotland? And Air Scandic for that matter.
RE: Russian Flag Carrier Chooses Airbus!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 20-11-02 AT 10:01 AM (GMT)]I don’t want to see the demise of Boeing, I just want them to realise that they have made some big mistakes (principly being complacent about their older products) in the last 15 years and do something about it.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-11-02 AT 11:58 PM (GMT)]I didn’t realise it already had them! I’ve just done a bit of research and it turns out the original Perm engines were pooh so they replaced them with Rolls’ finest.
RE: Wing Shot
The aircraft from which the photo is taken has just landed (either on an intersecting runway or a parallel one and taxied off) but the speedbrakes have not yet been stowed after auto-deployment.

RE: Newcastle news
I think it might be an idea if Newcastle Airport checked with Thomas Cook and updated their website!
RE: Sheffield City
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-11-02 AT 10:46 PM (GMT)]Elation – Believe me, I really don’t want to dampen your enthusiasm but take what Cabair’s sales people say with a very large pinch of salt. There is absolutely NO guarantee that their training will get you a job in preference to any other training provider and OATS cannot legitimately claim that either. They are desperate to sell their courses (many UK commercial training schools have gone bust in the last year) and are very happy to give you the feel good factor of telling you what you want to hear. We all hope that the job situation improves over the next few years but the fact remains that there are still many more qualified people out there than jobs available. I am still trying to help place friends of mine that qualified over 5 years ago find their first jobs.
Having contacts in places such as BA is a great thing but other than giving you a reference he can do nothing to sway your application process. The BA selection process is unswayable. On top of this, if you havn’t been through the BA cadetship program you would have to join as a direct entry pilot requiring considerable experience with other airlines.
If you want any advice about your plans I would be happy to advise.
Note for SkyCruiser and Monster – can you please post your thoughts on this.
RE: Scottish Airports receive £6 million boost
I’d be grateful for any more info you can supply on this as a 757 rated pal of mine is desperate to leave his current Newcastle base and get back home to Scotland.
RE: Approach
I’m glad you explained that, Ren. I was about to get my eyes tested!
RE: Newcastle news
TCX won’t be doing Orlandos out of Newcastle, just the standard Med stuff.
RE: My gawd, what is this?
Yes the VW Polo was very similar. I always thought the DAT scheme was rather different and therefore innovative.
RE: Sheffield City
Martin – from your message I gather you have just been accepted for a sponsorship. Who with?
RE: BMI leases an A330-200 to South African.
I heard today that 2 bmi A330’s are going to SAA on lease, 1 for 6 months and 1 for a year. They will help with the conversion process for crews in anticipation of SAA acquiring A340’s.
RE: Thanks Everyone
Preston – if it was a 757 rather than a 767 it would have to be a 300 to have a tail skid.
RE: Newcastle news
JMC’s Newcastle operation for 2003 will be the same as 2002 (except for the name change to Thomas Cook).
