Excellent. I think you’ll find it much more stimulating to fly alongside your study. It’ll be a constant reminder that all the classroom time is worth it in the end. Expect to do loads of cross country flying while hour building.

I don’t know the MTOW here, but I can try to find out.

Using generalised very conservative flight manual aircraft performance based on that runway length in a C4 engined A340-300 you would have to reduce your take off weight from 262 tonnes to 245 tonnes. Now if we had airfield specific performance charts that figure would increase however local topography (I don’t know the lay out of surrounding obstacles in the local net take off flight path) may cause the weight to come down again.

In reality you’d fill up with payload and take enough fuel to go somewhere with a longer runway to top up and head home. This is what happens sometimes with Skiathos-Thessaloniki, Zakinthos-Keffalonia, etc.

I could have ended up on the Brasilia as that was the second choice if Aurigny had not been able to find any suitable Saabs.

No…that right is owned by Embraers! 😉

Presumably those Eastern J41’s still have that installation. Skypilot used to fly the J41 for BRAL (I think) so perhaps he can verify.

Not in October. Won’t know about November for another couple of weeks.

The seatbelt/airbag is very slim. I’m going to Tokyo on a 600 with them installed soon so I’ll get some photos. They are installed in the economy and premium economy seats by exit rows where it is considered a possibility that a passenger could hit their heads on the cabin interior (doors, etc) and in Upper Class where the new seats are installed at an angle and the passengers are allowed to take off and land with the seat in any position they choose.
