Rules of aviation number 534682-13a annexe 3245 sub-part (b) says if management deny it there must be a lot of truth in it!
Ok you two, enoughs enough. I’m getting rather scared that at this rate neither of you are ever going to attract girlfriends! 😉
Because men were real men in them days!
It probably harks back to the days of three crew flightdecks as the headrest provided more of a barrier between the pilots and the flight engineer. 747 classics did not normally have headrests.
JMC wasn’t amalgamated into Thomas Cook, it just changed its operating title.
Condor were supposed to become Thomas Cook Germany as that was the wish of C&N Touristik who puchased Thomas Cook in the UK and renamed themselves Thomas Cook AG.
Yes, you could end up having Thomas Cook UK while Condor either operates under its own name or goes belly up.
Dave, I was really hoping you were back for good but these days you just flit around the shadows.
Well done Hand and thanks for all the efforts at maintaining Anglo-French relations! 😉
The oldest 757’s didn’t come with headrests!
Condor has always had a BIG problem with the idea of taking the name Thomas Cook. That’s why they’ve never fully gone through with the colour scheme change. Thomas Cook UK will continue regardless of what the Germans do and at the end of the day it is the British operation that holds all rights to the Thomas Cook name. By the way, I learnt today that out of the massive profit the UK arm made last year 10% was made by the tour operator and 90% by the airline.
Thomas Cook UK made record profits last year and was one of the most profitable (if not the most profitable) UK charter airline.
Now if only the Germans would stop taking all our profits to shore up their failures…
Tried to enter the site however, being on a dial up I got fed up waiting an age for it to load.
It’s a picture of Titan, one of the moons that orbits Jupiter(?).
Original reply removed and posted on the other Titan thread.
Yes, as was the Trident.

I can’t imagine there being any turboprops that are certified for the use of reverse pitch inflight but if you read the posts above you will see that it is possible to override the devices that are designed to prevent the crew from doing so. The strange question to be answered is why do flightcrew feel the need so often to manually override these devices. I never felt the urge to kill myself by such means when I flew them!
Due to previous plans to phase out the 300’s it may be that we get trained onto the 600 only. I’ll have to wait and see. I didn’t get a choice between the 747 or the 340 which is probably a very good thing as I really don’t know if I could have been happy to reject either of them. At least this way I havn’t had to make the tough decision. I do believe that in the long term the A340 will give the better lifestyle but I would be a liar if I didn’t admit that the prospect of the course scares the pants off me. I feel very comfortable with Boeing because at the end of the day their aircraft are very basic and easy to live with. The big reddeming feature with the Airbus is that if I ever decide to leave Virgin the world will be my oyster as I can easily hop into any other modern Airbus with minimum conversion. Also there is a very strong likelihood that I could end up on the A380 within a very short period. Now that will be interesting…
