XT148 & 236
Looking at my notes, it seems the spare Sioux that left for Aeroventure was XT236 and not G-ASOL. I always assumed one of these birds, either 148 or 236 was ASOL but it doesn’t seem to be the case. I never recalled ever seeing a third airframe so can only wonder… I will ask a few questions tomorrow!
I was at NEAM when Aeroventure came and collected the spare Bell 47 / Sioux one Saturday Afternoon. So the only thing I can guess is the one at NEAM is either XT148 or G-ASOL. I’m no egg-whisk expert but surely there will be a makers plate somewhere… I also remember there was many spare ex army Sioux fuel tanks around at the time including a one in UN blue and what looked like an Army display team…
Lindos
I’m currently on my last day here in Lindos and have passed the old Italian airfield while on my way to Rhodes town. It is well and truly overgrown and if that wasn’t enough, as mentioned, it has power cables running right across it.
Pefkos has a small runway (just short of 200M) that has pleasure flights available from the Flyer Bar. 50 Euro for 15min or 80 Euro for half an hour. I decided not to as thought that was a tad pricey… Instead I opted for a pint of Mythos in the Flyers Bar 🙂
I’ll have a look for that italian plaque in Lindos’s main square where the taxi’s que after my last full meal here..
Active consideration…
I’d say do it and you would have at least the majority of the historic forum behind you signing the electronic dotted line!
Remember, strength is in numbers!
Back to the Future..
Think this should be in modern military… 😉
Great News!
This is great news as she is starting to look a tad tired even though she is quite obviously cared for very well…

Blackpool
RIP Flt Lt Egging!
I wonder if this aircraft is the same one that suffered a birdstrike and made it to Blackpool a couple of weeks back? This was mentioned on another thread here about the use of a black Hawk as the lead aircraft?
Blue Skies….
How about something home grown?
I’m not sure the F1’s ever carried the bonny red/yellow marks of this unit until later when they had F6’s although I could be wrong. I’ll have a look in my Hunter archive! Failing that, why not do a Scottish based example like 43 Sqn?
RTP
From what I believe, the HAS complex is still full of them……. For now anyway! Would have thought it would be good to keep a war reserve just like Davis Montham AFB in the States!
