Neil McCarthy poses in front of his bird

A broken GR4 ZD890 from 2 Sqn that had been layed up on the pan for two weeks by the time this photo was taken.

Regards,
Phil.
VC-10 and Sentry also in the area….
Not 558 but 319 ha-ha
I just love how it has a picture of Vulcan B.2 XL319 from NEAM. I guess if anyone was to fuel 319 up, she’d leak like a sieve!! :D:D
Not sure but it can’t be long as I have seen a picture of her on FACEBOOK in her new colours just minus outer wings for some reason
I.4
A bit of a delay, but now for installment 4! All the pictures taken on this post are from the following day (Sunday – 31/07/2011) apart from the Carmichael Fire Tender.

Myself climbing into the helm of Jet Provost T3A XM479 / G-BVEZ

The old control tower..

Hawker Hunter PR.11, G-PRII/WT723

Hawker Hunter T.7, G-VETA/XL600

Cockpit of G-VETA complete with new NAV aids!

Hawker Hunter T.7, G-BXFI/WV372 ‘R’ basks in the evening sun.

There was talk about using the old ‘Packard’ Merlin tooling over in America for a limited production run a few years back… Don’t know if it will ever transpire.
Well, if you want more information on those particular markings, I can be of help as most people get them wrong for some reason… Just give me a bell 😉
XX467 to XL605
I’d love to see XX467 repainted into her origional markings when she had the serial XL605 with 66 Sqn, RAF Acklington, Northumberland 😉
I’d be happy with any paint scheme as long as she aint all over white as she would be a pig to keep clean and presentable!
Windshield Glass
Incidentally does anyone know if there are spare Vulcan windows lying around anywhere?
When I was still a member at NEAM, I offered to make up some new units and I even supplied a sample of the anti-reflective type glass I could get. I hid it in the pull-out tray in the back cockpit of 319. To discuss further, PM me!
Installment 3!
Team Viper aircraft G-VETA/XL600, G-BXFI/WV372 ‘R’ and G-PRII/WT723 masquerading as XG194 ‘N’ of the famous Black Arrows depart for the Sunderland International Air Show.
Hunter G-ETPS/XE601 did not attend as she was still U/S with a broken engine down at RAF Waddington!!
On the day G-GAII/XE685 ‘VL-861’ (pictures to follow in installment 4) was also unable to fly due to a technical issue with the undercarriage release mechanism, although she flew on the Sunday after a replacement part being sourced very quickly!

Vulcan B2 XH558 comes in for a low pass on her way back from the Sunderland International Air Show. Her second pass was quite spectacular after opening up the taps to create the famous ‘Vulcan Howl’.

Neil McCarthy’s DH Vampire T11 XD425 sits in the sun… and will be kept at Leeming until her turn for a full re-spray by the SERCO team whom are based at Leeming. It was SERCO who also sprayed up Neil’s Jet Provost T3A earlier this year in the special 1FTS display scheme.

The next installment…

Jet Provost T3A XM479 / G-BVEZ taxiing out prior to her display

Neil McCarthy waves to his fans as he taxies back in after his display in Jet Provost T3A XM479 / G-BVEZ

Wings are weathered enough, I think he means the fuselage…
Any new RC on the go Steve?
Thumbs Up!
A massive transformation from seeing her at Eshott in June… Keep it up Mike!
From what I gather, East Fortune was offered an FG.1/F4K from Leuchars some time back but knocked it back as they said they already owned one. As the F4S has no place in Scottish history, I thought they would have snapped their hand off for an F4K!!!
East Fortune has a US Navy Phantom which arrived in the early 00s. I think it was originally at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, but now belongs to the NMS.
I’m sure they’d love one with Scottish heritage as it were, I can’t see them taking a second one, or flogging off the US one.
