It is funny this has been mentioned as I’m on the final chapter of a book called ‘Task Force Battalion’ set in the war of 82′
Here is a really GOOD one!!

Rest in Peace our war dead!!!
Friday the 13th!! (using Elvingtons Halifax of course) 😀
The other Bell 47 was taken away by Bill Fern from Aeroventure. That pod was XT148!
Bell 47 G-ASOL
Warwick
I think the geodetic structure will be Warwick though, see link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vickers_Warwick
Funnily enough, the picture on Wikipedia is from Bamburgh Castle just up the road!
The ‘Warwick’ wing structure is not warwick, or wing.. or aeroplane for that matter!… It is the tailplane of the YAM halifax reproduction – this original tailplane lacked structural strength and sagged when fitted. It was subsequently replaced with a much improved version.
As I recall, what you have labelled as Wellington is actually Warwick….
The Nimrod itself has potentially many years left especially with the MRA4 programme. The core to this problem is goverment funding in the MOD or lack of! Cost cutting is to blame here, not the aircraft!
Am I alone in thinking that it is somewhat ironic that we are discussing the saving of a Nimrod airframe on the same day when we were told quite categorically that we had it in our collective hands to save one with 14 crew and did not do so?
The McNamara Fallacy might have something to do with it: “Everything must be counted, anything that cannot be counted does not count. Money is easily counted and all too soon money becomes the key for everything.”
How did we sleepwalk into this? We are flying museum pieces and it must stop.
ESHOTT
Hi all,
This event turned out to be bigger than I envisioned and kept me rushed off my feet marshalling! Does anyone have further comments to add… WHat was good, what could be improved on etc….?
Cheers,
Phil.
Hi Pagen, I have not been involved with the project@for a little while now as have been busy on a project of my own. However, I was down the other day and work has been getting done on her and by all acounts the person involved is an ex Canberra man. So fingers crossed on a good restoration!
Unless we take a leaf out of the Tornado book with wing bolt attachments and use liquid nitrogen 😉
T4 XM990
Whats the story with Lightning T4 XM990? She looks like she has had a bit of a landing accident!
One of the ones at Paphos (Cyprus) then?? 😀
Great Stuff!!
