I think it would be great to see more classics back in the air but guess it all boils down to cost and design support. There was talk of the DH Comet 4 getting into the air a few years back at Bruntingthorpe but I have heard no more on that….. The Lightnings are still a no go and I haven’t got a clue about the Buccaneer at RAF Scampton. Any news on the Coventry Shackleton anyone???

    Wankle Power!

This aircraft is still registered and looks to have two Norton Wankle engines…

    Wrong Comment!

    Very harsh words there PP!

I myself find Newark Air Museum to be one of the better private museums in the UK. I was there only a few weeks back and was approached by two volunteers, one of which was working on the Bucc. They were very talkative and even showed me in a couple of exhibits… Sure, there is always room for improvement but I wouldn’t say it resembled a scrap yard! The work they do there is fantastic!

As for money terms, I quite happy to pay a £6.75 charge knowing it will go to the good cause of preserving our aviation heritage!

    Hi there,

Could it not be a Bristol Beaufighter front windscreen as they were based at East Fortune in East Lothian and it looks to be about the correct shape and size??

Phantom Phil – I would forward your pictures to the AAIB as they may be of use in some way being so detailed.

    Sad News!

    Hi guys,

Here are a couple of pictures of XF877 on Saturday the 4th of this month at the RAF Waddington Airshow.

Thoughts go out to John Fairey’s family and friends!

    TT.18

    Hi there,

Yes, the chances are that you flew on board a 7 Sqn Canberra TT.18. An example of which can be found at the North East Aircraft Museum!

    Regards,

    Phil.

Whilst “holding” between Pilot training courses in Summer 1978 I spent a week at StMawgan and flew on a Canberra sortie.
I have no record of the serial/type as it was pax flying so logbook entry is optional, but recall it could be something to do with target towing??
We were due to formate with an AEW Shackleton over the Scillies but the old Shack went tech!

Can anyone supply details and/or pictures of the varient of Canberra I flew in?

    Elvington’s Overwing Lightning Tanks…

I noticed that Elvington have two complete with tanks! They are outside next to the Javelin FAW.9. Maybe they are going spare with them sat outside?

Yeah, I noted that but was just wondering if it will be the specially marked example.. A pity the old ‘toom’ hasn’t been seen on the circuit for a few years!
