Lightning Chat
Unfortunately I’m from the North East so only get to RAF Waddington on the odd occasion like an air show. If you’re around 770 on the Saturday I will pop over to have a chat! Lightning chat is always good chat 😀
Hi
Yes it is rather cloudy and to be honest as much as we could polish it I don’t think it would make very much difference at all. We do have a replacement but doubt we will be replacing it before the airshow unfortunately. Have you seen her recently then? If so you must be a Waddoite! Feel free to come over and chat to us anytime. We will be there most nights up until the Airshow : )
Great stuff! I noticed that the canopy is a little cloudy from years of standing out in the British outdoors. Will this be getting replaced or just a polish up?
Is there any idea if 770 will be ready for the RAF Waddington Airshow?
What a facinating find. Good work Matt!
I think they are spares bought with the aircraft on the intial thought of operating one of these mighty warriors over the skies of Cyprus!
I heard recently that Cosfords Comet is to be repainted in RAF colours. Watch this space!
Yes C.2, Mk.2 and C.4 based on Mk.4.
I can’t see any of the existing Mk.4s being painted in RAF colours, especially not the Duxford one which would become irrelevant.Cosfords Comet is in BOAC colours, it is ex Air France, never RAF, but became a military trials aircraft, hence serial and eventually being owned and stored by the RAF. At one time it was lumped in with the BA airliners collection, it does now look a bit out of place there now, being a civVie marked airliner amongst military aircraft. Not sure what the long term plan is, the last time I saw it (a year ago) it was parked seperately to everything else.

If no one has these items, does anyone know where I could obtain them??
That has been like that since 1984 when she got towed across to where she sits now!
If you had a Mk2b bonedome I’d of made you some wooden props 😀

Any pictures of G-ATCI??
Snoopy to soldier on!
I was at Marshall’s last week and was shown around the outside of Snoopy. She now sports a modified refuelling probe with some sort of air sampling devise where the end valve once was. Unfortunately due to Airbus being a tad secretive I wasn’t allowed to take any pictures! What I was told however is that she is very low houred and because of this Marshall’s may keep her on for some time as simply a test vehicle even after the current engine and prop trials!;)
Great!
Great read!!!
Does anyone out there have stories to tell on 4 Air Gunnery School?
