I’m not sure how you define “kid” – but yep, same person. Probably the most qualified “kid” on the forum.
That’s funny π Needed a good laugh

I think it was over Iranian territory π
nice stealth shape btw

Looks pretty good for a model hey π
Correct me if I am wrong ? But all the official and quoted information from LM about the F35 say’s “While not technically supercruising, the F35 can…”
I dont recall seeing them in this recent spate at least claiming supercruise ? but like I said, could be wrong, cant read every article and release, I am pretty sure it was claimed/hoped earlier in the project ? or was that just speculation

Sales don’t have to go via the US FMS route just because they have US components. They need ITAR approval for the sale, is all. Other C-27 sales have been direct from Alenia to the customer.
Ah ok, wasnt sure about that, just figure that was the case, so as we are getting new airframes, any idea why it has been put through FMS ? Guessing it is a requirement of ITAR that I wasnt aware of and that both are intertwined
Cheers
No, you’re probably right. I had read that the aircraft would be acquired via the US FMS system and put one and two together to get four. :p
Thought I had missed something there π
There was some talk of it in the beginning but Alenia but a stop to it and said they would not support the aircraft as they were obviously a bit sour on the US side of things.
The FMS still has to go via the US as the C27 has US tech in it, IE: Herc systems etc

Australia’s acquisition of ex-US C-27Js
Just wondering where you get that from ? Australia is not buying the US’
C-27J’s, they will be new build aircraft, or have I missed something ?
Cheers
Well there is one relevance,
Yep, definately, it has missed that, but as I have put in the previous posts, that was a KPP set on a clean F16 and F/A-18, So I am trying to find what the acceleration comparisons are with both those planes with a combat load ? Otherwise what is the point ? Who cares if either can beat the JSF, or in particular the C, without any weapons ? It has no relevance to what any of the aircraft are used for or how they will be used
Cheers
Source, primarily for myself
No worries π popped up pretty quick after my question if anyone had the F16/F18/F35 acceleration comparison on combat loads and didnt see the relevance, all good π
Cheers
Although being vital to complete the information, this figure is of course never given. Because it would reveal the whole picture which is most likely far from being pleasing. The test pilots carefully choose their words to say only the part of the whole story which suits the PR so that a careless reader easily gets an impression that with the F-35 he somehow had an F-16 class fighter throughout the whole envelope.
There is little doubt that if you look hard enough, you can find a regime/loadout combination where the F-35 accelerates better than F-16. Most likely few (dozens of) seconds from low speeds with full internal A-G layout to make it the worst possible situation for the Viper where the F-35 wins by pure static thrust..
As the F-35 fans love to say, it’s not about what they tell you, it’s about what they don’t. Why don’t LM simply add the F-35 acceleration curve from M0.9 to M1.6 to the graphic provided?
Just as the anti JSF crowd find the same things to beat what is said about the F35, it is a mute arguement, what you complain about one thing can be directly applied to your own arguement, it is a no win point, it does not prove nor disprove anything, see my above post, do you have the acceleration curves for the F16 or F/A-18 with a combat load to compare to the F35 with the same load ?
Saying that it does not match a clean F16 or F/A-18 does not hold much except on paper, I want to know what they do with a combat load ?
Here is an article from Defense News:
http://www.defensenews.com/article/20120118/DEFREG02/301180013/F-35-May-Miss-Acceleration-Goal
I dont read it as being doom and gloom, are there some issues ? Yes of course, any aircraft will have, you cant change Newton’s π
But as mentioned in the article, is it a problem ? The F35’s transonic specs, or KPP’s, were based on clean config F16 and F/A-18
“But unlike the Hornet or the F-16, the F-35 has the same configuration unloaded as it does loaded with weapons and fuel, Burbage said. When an F/A-18 or F-16 is encumbered with weapons, pylons and fuel tanks, those jets are robbed of much of their performance.
βWhat is different is that this airplane has accelerational characteristics with a combat load that no other airplane has, because we carry a combat load internally,β Burbage said, the F-22 Raptor notwithstanding.
Even fully loaded, the F-35βs performance doesnβt change from its unencumbered configuration, he said.
In the high subsonic range between Mach 0.6 to Mach 0.9 where the majority of air combat occurs, the F-35βs acceleration is better than almost anything flying.”
So I would be interested if anyone can find what the acceleration is like for the F16 and the F/A-18 compared to the F35 with a full combat load ? π
Then we can start to compare apples to oranges
Cheers
Tom Burbage, Lockheed’s program manager for F-35 talked about it sometime back.
They are re-negotiating the requirement based on the F-35 having better acceleration than the legacy aircraft when there is a large AG loadout on both.
Ah ok, cheers, will do a search and see what I can find for a read.
It will also be interesting to see what info comes out over time on the F35 and its EW capabilities, I remember some time ago they were looking at an F35/Growler type aircraft and were playing around with the idea of stealth pods ? This was pretty early in the piece, but have not heard much about it since.
Spud do you remember that ? Do you have any info on it ? or was it just a fleeting thought

Aussienscale joins Hopsalot on the lockout list.
My goodness, you have no answers at all do you ? You have been shown up, you come in charging trying to rip apart what I have said about APA and you defended them to the hilt, showing that you have no idea whatsoever about the subject and who they are.
Now I am not saying you dont have knowledge in this industry, but you have attacked me on a continuous basis since I started posting on this forum with your smart ****, snide, belligerent post’s to try and shoot me down, with not one single piece of rebuttal from you against what I have said !
You have continuously and publicly tried to link me to some other person who you have an obvious problem with and have been shown up and embarrased on that as well, your pathetic attempts at drive by shootings are hilarious and we are enjoying watching you dig a bigger and bigger hole for yourself.
Cheers
As far as the AFA story goes, it should be read in a conjunction with the briefer’s record of statements and predictions since he first became a public spokesman for the program.
As far as your post goes it should be read in conjunction with the posters previous history π I would also like to retract my previous statement alluding to you being Bill Sweetman, you are clearly not, at least Bill would be able to make a reasonable response to the article.
Still very interested in who you think I am though ? You have made now a couple of times very difinitive statements on who I am ? I am more than happy to share, there is no need for me to hide behind a pseudonym, but it seems every time I prove you wrong on your assumptions you turn rather meek and avoid the subject ? It would be nice to put it to bed once and for all, but oh I forgot, we are on the internet, how could I possibly prove who I am ? Should have know your usual response before I asked the question shouldnt I π
Cheers
That is outright lies; which is nothing less than would be expected from a Lockheed VP.
The F-35C missed its sonic acceleration KPI. It may beat the F/A-18 E/F, but that is no barometer for “exceptional” performance.
Wondering if you have a reference you could give for the KPI ?
