what happened to G-CBEL John Bradshaws Fury?We do have a problem in this country with our engines, i just wish there was a company that could build and repair Centaurus engines. Plus alot of WW2 engines. how feasable is it to rebuild a Napier Sabre engine? there are problems with Napiers arent there? Hasnt the Tempest 2 got the same engine as the Fury?
The Bradshaw Fury is still kept in flying condition at Kemble but it doesn’t get seen in the air as much now.
The Tempest II do have a Centaurus, but the Sea Fury’s Centaurus 18 is completely different, as are 95% of the two airframes.
HTH,

I think the Tempest looks great.

From what I was told TFC were finding it difficult to locate a suitable Centaurus for the project.
I do not know whether they have found a unit yet.
Rumour had it in the late 90’s that TFC were rebuilding it as close to Korean War standard as possible – i.e. all the guns would be fitted. Again I do not know if this is part of TFCs plans for VX653.

She flew her first display on May 11th at a event at Yeovilton.
The probs with the prop and other minor niggles dogged the RNHF throughout the 2002 season, but they are all sorted out now and the aircraft is I believe serviceable.

The Sea Hawk will be going to Culdrose’s Air Day in July if its rebuild is complete. Not sure on other venues other then Yeovilton in September.
The Firefly, which will be going in WV908’s place to Kemble, looks lovely after its long-term rebuild by British Aerospace at Dunsfold/Yeovilton.
The Sea Hawk was to have made its return last year, but continuing problems with the Firefly last season prevented this. The small yet superbly skilled BAE-Systems restoration team were working on both projects at Yeovilton, and now that the Firefly is serviceable the team are concentrating full-time on WV908.

I’d much rather see it go back to NZ rather then to the USA for example. A geniune RNZAF warbird for the country.
Very sad to see it go none-the-less.

I didn’t see the accident, and thankfully have never seen one to date.
All the best to the pilot concerned,

Apparently the 3 1-11s flew over RNAS Yeovilton just before the “HMS Ocean swarm” arrived home earlier today.
Wish I could have been there to see it.

ummmmmmmm Centaurus……………….
Be very interesting to hear the differences between the Tempest and the Fury when the two hopefully perform together at Flying Legends 2004/5!

Excellent photos kev35!
Can I ask whether you took a photograph of the MAM Hunter?

I’m told the RNHF jet is making very good progress to fly again.
WV795 was surveyed by Kennet Aviation to see if it could be made airworthy, but I think the costs involved in doing it would be huge.
It moved back to Brunty as a result.

Here it is on a horrible day at Bournemouth International Airport earlier today.
Did not fly but did a fast-taxi Bruntingthorpe-style along the runway, however only after it waited for a Boeing 737 to land 🙂
M
I’m can’t really comment on it until I have seen it ‘live’.
With the wings folded you are not seeing the true scheme.

Thanks again Steve, just what I was looking for, and more 🙂
Still have one JP-team related query outstanding, help very much appreciated!
Does anyone remember the 1FTS’ “Blades” JP team?
They were active in the early 1970s for a two or three seasons.

Does anyone know if the Vampire has been painted too?
I may go down to the Museum next weekend.
I will try and get some photos of the jet on my digital camera.
