Looks u & I have something in common Mike, distrust of politicians LoL For those that know this name, Colin “Mad Mitch” Mitchell of Argyle & Sutherland Highlanders fame, was a family friend and he lasted 6 months in politics “They (politicians) have no honour”.
Now, as mentioned before, Headley Court, near Epsom, now in the news and I must a say a lovely piccy of part of the building. Theyve had a 30 bed ward opened, better than nothing, but more needs doing. Bex

Still thinking, the right words still essape me at the moment. Bex
Ken,
Thanks for sharing those words, by what Ive just read (and Ive read it 4 times now) this is an honourable man caught in a row that does not need fighting again in public for the sake of everyone who was there, and by the look of it reading between the lines, that day is in his mind all the time.
Ok I was 8 at the time, I wasnt there but I wish I could meet the gentleman concerned, just to shake his hand and say thank you & buy him a pint ( this I would to any member of our Armed Forces )
To my inexperienced point of view, perhaps if the ships company had more experience in fighting an Air War (Skipper & XO from non surface ship backgrounds) he wouldnt have felt the need to doubt the word of the OOW and gone to check for himself the cloud base and also totally incorrect intel re: Argentine Bomb / Missile threats which due to security had to keep in his cabin.
Ive kept my comments brief as I have more to say but Im struggling to find the right words ( a problem of mine) at the moment. Bex
In my view its a good idea, lets face it, plane enthusiasts are far more likely to spot something dodgy than average security staff who have been on shift for 10 hours and been awake since ridiculous o’clock and aint exactly the sharpest pencil in the box at that point. SUnday for example, driving home from spending the day workin on me Canberra (as u do LoL) I drive past the back gate of Gatwick at the end of the runway, and what do I see? 3 enuthusiasts being being searched & ID’d by a police van with its blues flashing (was waitin for a 747 to land on top of it tho).
Although heightened security is a good idea, I felt sorry for these guys, minding their own business, taking a few photos and not beating old grannies senseless so they can get stoned out of their faces.
Final point, it could be used however, to cut costs on security having unpaid security spotters around.

Cropdusters – the lowest of the low.
This thread has been going so long I might have posted this image before…when I was younger.
This is the shot, taken with a borrowed Canon A1, fitted with a fixed wide angle lens, from the back of a TF-51 on a ‘cross-county’ on home territory.
It seemed a little low to me as this unannouced eucalytus flashed by but this was normal transiting altitude for the multi thousand hour duster…and good friend.
It is common practice for dusters to fly under telegraph wires but I know to keep his edge in his younger days he would not only fly along the wires but underneath them, one pole left , one pole right.
He is retired now. 🙂

Hmmm brings a new meaning to “Treetop height” or should that now be reclassified as “Below Treetop Height”? Cracking shot Mark. :diablo: Bex
Ah, didnt no ya F86 was from Dux Martin. I didnt know Dux had been loaning out airframes to other Museums. I think I should have asked it as a question and not made a statement, then I wouldnt have made a boo boo. Well atleas the 86 has gone to a good home, and is being well looked after thats all that matters 😀 Bex
Oooops ty for the correction, didnt know that one. Bex
Maybe Duxford should stop collecting for a couple of years (unless it is a really unique item) and concentrate on the mass of untouched items it has already. curlyboy
Heres an idea, though I doubt Duxford would go for it, why not loan out exhibits they cant cope with to Museums that would probably give all their volunteers appendages to get their hands on!!! Bex
Hmm its just an animal, I like that phrase, rather good I must admit. But, as stated by Phixer, a gentleman whom I have come to respect even though I havent met him [yet] (check his website u might see why), we as human beings are nothing but animals, or to be more precise, Mammals……. just like goats and I was also under the impression that there was legislation in place world wide to protect animals no matter what they were.
As for fishing with RPG’s, aslong long as those guys ate the fish does it matter if they like me use a rod or their chosen method of High Explosives? Oh dear Ive just admitted I go fishing ooops. Bex

Thanks Daz, youre gettin good at answering my questions!! Really appreciated as always. Bex
I’ll let Chris and Steve know. Thanks for the offer! I was debating whether to come dressed as an SS officer…. wonder if I’ll get the sherbert kicked out of me….
Plan B perhaps?…………… stand next to the footy field when the oiks are there and see if that scares em? Usin a Vulcan for target practice, disgraceful (or words to that effect) shoot em I say. Bex
P.S: I left a response over on Models for your attention LL
