Youre quite, I believe the correct term is “Winning the hearts and Minds” but we dont seem to be doing a very good job at that one, and idiots like these dont help one little bit.

As a very patriotic person and Im behind our troops 100% if evidence was presented showing wrong doing then, Im sorry, it needs to be reported, and if Pete Truman hadnt have reported this then I would have. Dean, Youre quite right, every mind is different, but, each person here that is defending the Marines seems to be missing one point, abuse. Just because it was a goat apparently means its just a laugh. Im sorry, but, “What if” this had been done to a human? There would be a huge outcry wouldnt there? Now Im not saying that these guys need to shot or any other over reactive action, what needs to be addressed is the abuse of another life (and property) in a theatre of operations by allied forces where we are supposedly trying to persuade the indiginous population that we’re better than the bad guys running around threatening them to grow drugs etc etc etc etc.

PTSD is no joke I know that, I grew up with it, I live with it now too, but it should not be used as an excuse for inexcusable and inhumane actions.

Firstly, I hope Ian doesnt mind me borrowing his thread, although, the ongoing discussion does however highlight the need for Forces Specific Hospitals:

My mother was an NHS A&E nurse and also highly qualified in spinal orthipedics, I remember having a discussion with my parents when Military Hospitals started being closed or handed over to the NHS. Dad described various scenarios of injuries & psycological problems, that he himself had seen over the years (Borneo, Northern Ireland etc) and apart from the basics my mother hadnt got a clue apart from the basics.

Something else that needs to be taken in consideration is access to records, some of our troops medical histories can not be accessed by the NHS.

Finally, our troops dont need to be subjected to the appalling state of NHS hospitals, theyve suffered enough. They need to be supported by suitably experienced & trained staff close (ish) to their families. Bex

Ok, im not too hot on whether or not some of these old ladies are unique, but, if as has been noted in this thread before, that they had some rather iffy reputations in flight etc, then why not make them look pretty put em in a museum, then, as some of these warbird owners / groups have the odd penny or two, make a replica so it is less likely to give them a bad day? Lets face it, apart from the experts & rivet counters out there, who’d know? Ok if they stuck a Merlin or Griffon into an FW190 Id know that one, but Id rather a reliable lump like those being used than an unreliable lump likely to bite the pilot on the backside. I hope not Mike, this place has a top of the range rehab centre. I’ll give u all a clue, my dad came out of an NHS hospital after 7 months, went to Headly Court a month later for 5 months and went from being unable to do anything other than grunt, groan and the occasional ******* O** to being able to talk properly, walk with a stick, use his left hand for writing (he was right handed) ok so his right side still dont work properly and his short term memory is a bit iffy but what they did was short of a bl00dy miracle.
