There seems to be much speculation concerning the welfare of the goat, which is understandable, but has anyone thought of this from another perspective- that of the Marines? If you had been under the strain of combat operations, wouldn’t you want a distraction? Dont get me wrong, i’m not saying that I agree with what they did, but perhaps we should try to understand why they did it.

Oh yes the old battle fatigue, bit like the British soldier who murdered his family coz of what he saw in Iraq. Better call my dad (ex soldier) and ask him when hes gonna wipe my family out. As for the goat, well I suppose battle fatigue is a good excuse for whats the word Im looking for…….. Oh yes, abuse.

I have to be honest, I think a couple of comments on this page are verging on offensive, I’m not suggesting they’re supposed to be, but I think people should be careful as I’m sure Key wouldn’t be happy to think it had become a bashing board.

Well said……… now I have a question, does it REALLY matter if male cabin crew are perceived as gay? All that matters is they can do their job to the letter under very differcult circumstances and secondly, if things go pearshaped gay, straight, disabled, orange, pink, black or white, no ones going to worry are they?

Perhaps we could maybe step away from the poor goat and see how it reacted to the bombings by air that have famously broken peoples‘ spirits and bones, the continued ambushes by Taliban forces against the US and allied troops, day to day life in a warzone etc…

I agree with you in theory however, this thread is about a goat being abused by a jarhead prank not about air attacks. Dont forget Barnowl, ambushes from terrorists was a daily occurance for the British Army since the 1960’s so their used it. What concerns me however is that 2 of the worlds most civillised armed forces keep doing stupid things that fail to win the psycological war that needs to be addressed, and this stupid act is a prime example.
