But for 8 gees??Would the combined parts be worth that?I,m not knocking the work,it looks great and you can,t tell it,s built from ply.Looks very original otherwise..
Hmm possbily a bit steep, but if you look at how big it is and take that into consideration theres alot of work in this one. Mind you I wonder why he just didnt carry on a build the rest of the aircraft. Wings + tail job done LoL Bex
sorry about the deleted thing, i thought that id look like a plonker if i posted a reply twice, on consecutively on my own thread, lol. i do wonder though, neither the one at cosford or the one at duxford have ever flown, so there would be no problem with fatigue life would there? engines would be available in the worm of concorde’s olympus which i have been led to believe is basically the same engine, so with repair to the wiring and hydraulics, it wouldn’t be a lot easier that trying to get a victor or a vulcan back in the air i would have thought, the only problem would be a spares backup! and the fact that technically they are prototypes. yeah a 1/4 scale one would be pretty ace, about 8 and a half metres long! i found a couple of UAV turbojets producing 150lb static thrust each, that should do the job as it will have to weigh less than 80kg i think (LMA exemption or something like that) still would be pretty epic, and i suppose after i had had my fun i would donate her to a museum or something! they could ground run it HAHA ๐
As I said, a magnifying glass to check the wiring, common sense on the hydrualics, Hmm donuts. Engines well now thats dead easy. Only problems are Cosford and engines. Theory is DEAD easy, practicalities is another story. Bex
Ooops springs to mind on that one LoL Bex :dev2:
Please Help
I know Ive goofed a few times and upset the odd forumite with my daft sense of humour but Id really like your help folks, this RAF Barton near Sealand Id like to track down, also any help with Northern Air Transport Limited & 1934 MacRobertson Air Race REALLY be appreciated. Jock meant a lot to me and the last time I saw his family was at his funeral in 91, my dad & I were the only ones there in Uniform.

Hi Peter, not alot done recently, just some purchasing of instruments & a heck of a lot of diagram studying. Got Tiny Tot problems at the moment along wiv blinking awful weather. Once Ive sorted Tiny Tot I will be able to get back to work on my Baby and the Nav panel will look lovely. Bex
I’ve still got mine…
Ok as Im not the only one, this is the ONLY time Im ever gonna say this, but I hope my mom still got mine LoL Its gonna be the closest me or my step son’s gonna get to owning a Spitfire Cockpit. Bex
A sad, sad day for XR806 caused by a defuelling accident. Her forward fuselage still exists at BZN I believe
Can I assume then defuelling caused the C of G to go haywire end result a$re down nose up? Causing structual damage? ๐
Bex
* = Unsure about the “Blue One” at Air Atlantique.
.
According to G-INFO its still registered as G-CDSX, but no other details available. Im pretty sure theres a couple of AA chappies on the forum perhaps they could fill in the gaps? Bex
Does anyone have any scale drawings/ three views of TSR2, seriously thinking about building a 1/4 scale jet powered model TSR2, thats probably going to be the closest thing we could get to a flying one ๐
Cant help with that one my friend but would love to see your handy work. Oh in response to your post about the wiring looms you deleted, gimme a magnifying glass, a few crimps and a couple of months ๐ฎ Bex
Yes I am becoming a bit forgetful in my old age rnt I Bex?
You sure the compliments arn’t a cunning ploy to get me to spring into action to send an email with my address?
Well either because of that or the public shame of everyone now knowing Im forgetful an IM is now on its way. :p
Mart my friend, the compliment was an honest comment, I have seen your handy work. But as you mentioned it, although you are younger than me Old Age is catching you up :p Bex
I must say I never think of looking in the sections its listed in.
But yes I agree TT, Sod the Strutter and go with the Spitfire……………..but not at that price.
Now where’s my Spitfire panel gone and them sheets of plywood Ive got left from past projects. ๐
Dont forget Mart u would have some lovely pilots notes to make reference to IF you remembered to drop me an addy LoL I could imagine anything based on them from you would be upto your usual standard……… absolutely frickin amazin (and no I aint teckin the mick ๐ )
To coin a well known phrase, “Now then Now then” I think everyone here knows my usual tastes but I think I might surprise you all now, if I had that sort money to spare, it would be mine, oh yes ๐ Ok time to embarass myself now, I used to have a Spitfire Cockpit Duvet ๐ฎ Bex
Final Thank you
Thanks to all who have helped me out here, even more so as Ive just found a photo of my dear friend. Bex
It’s a make – a bit like asking ‘what’s a Boeing?’
The probability is it was the (in)famous ‘Irish Swoop’ entered but scratched:

Failed to start:
Crew: Fitzmaurice and Bonar Number: 29 Type: Bellanca 28-70 Name & Reg: โIrish Swoopโ EI-AAZ
James K, thank you very much, thats him and the plane, Eric Watt “Jock” Bonar. I know the question was a bit vague, but as mentioned before things are a bit hazy after 20 odd years. Bex
This bit might help: He was also an instructor for “Northern Air Transport”
Thank you everyone, this is filling in a few holes for me ๐
Thank you all
Trolley Aux,
Thank you for that. I remember him mentioning having meetings with RJ Mitchell re the Air Race but these conversations took place over 20 years ago so the ol braincell is a bit slow.
As for Barton being up near Manchester, that fits in with his mad spree as joyride pilot for tourists scarin the pants off them with whizz rounds the Blackpool Tower. Bex
I was typing this when Moggy & CShep added their bits, and while Im at it ty Barnowl.
