I have done some work (not much good) to illustrate how I would like to see the Pr.1174 getting modified/modernized. My illustrative skills are very limited, so I worked only on the front flight deck. But hope it gives a basic idea on the modernization.

    The modernization gives/intend
New flight deck extending to the bow
    2 x landing spot
    increased parking area
full length hanger extending from the stern to the front flight deck
    Helo capacity increased to 6-8 x Ka-27/29/31/62
    1 x 152mm A-192

And others, namely AD assets like Palash & Ak-630/630-2…. any suggestions?

^^^ Thanks a lot for those links… I completely missed that news. Even though I was sure that Baltisky Yard would come into the Govt hands after it went bankrupt and was just a matter of time. But Severyna Very coming into USC fold was surprising.

    Wot ?? – no Flanker records ?? 😮

The P-42 variant took no less than 27 Time-to-Climb records from the F-15 ‘Streak Eagle’ between 1986 & 1988.

    Most are still extant.

Surely worth a mention on the RIAN chart ??

    Ken

They probably ran out of space to put more of the achievements (or the ‘page’ already got too long) and hence settled for the above list (?)…. a better one would have been to present it as multimedia like the one for Chernobyl accident

Video- the one Tu-22M3 upgraded by Gefest&T is looking sharp.

by upgrade, does it mean significant upgrade to new standards with new equipments or just regular repair job and paint?

Sorry, couldn’t find a separate PAK-DA thread. RIA Novosti report:

PAK-DA takes shape – says RuAF commander

hope its Tupolev thats heading the project….

    But not unlimited endurance.

True, but it is going to free up lots of tonnage meant for fuels/oil which can be utilized for other purposes. If they can go N-powered and can manage the stores that can help the crew endure for 120days, It would be worth the high cost invested on N-powered ‘destroyer’.

Well the way I see it, the new “destroyer” can go one of two general ways:
1.) Stretched 22350- basically similar general weaponry but stretched, more cells etc. Around ~6000 or more tons, would be a nice ship, but what would it really offer over 22350, which already does everything and more than the old destroyers did.
2.) Larger ~9000-11000 ton ship, with nuclear propulsion, and a very different sensor and weapons package from 22350. If they want a ship for BMD, and true long distance deployment capability, this would fit the ticket.

If the planned number is what they stated, 6 ships (unless that is only the first batch), and the construction time is as far back as 2016, then I think there is real possibility this will be a bigger ship. Which is fine as long as 22350 program speeds up.

    good points…..

considering that they are planning only 6 units itself gives me the feel that its going to be a big one and could go either way – pr.1164 or pr.1144 size. I’d prefer it to be N-powered whatever the class it is going to be. It will at least give the ships unlimited range.

If the new ‘destroyer’ is going to be in the pr.1164 class, I’d love to see it armed something like this… (taking into account what p.r1164 can actually accommodate after a good modernization/up-gradation)
So my wishlist goes this way, which i believe is possible.

    1 x 152mm
    48 x 4 x cell (9M317ME/9M96E/E2), front
    96 x cell (64 x S-500 + 32 x Klub/Yakhont/Granat), amidship
4 x Palash (flanking the above)
    4-8 x AK-630-2 (4 on top of hanger)
    4 x Helo

w.r.t to the yard selection… i dont feel like putting all the projects in one yard. Hope I’m proved wrong by Severnya Verf with their productivity and management, but looking back their record of the past doesn’t give much hope. These guys are the Russian equivalent of our own MDL, who wants to grab as much projects and funds as possible and mess up everything with delays. The only difference being MDL is a PSU (Govt), where as Severnya belongs to private management.

On a related note, has the time/future of missile boats come to an end within RuN?
I mean new missile boats (new design) and not the existing ones. There was a pr.12300 (??) Skorpion class that floated around earlier, but nothing came in solid form.

We do see the new Pr.21361 with 8-cell Klub/Yakhont VLS, so is it how the future layout of new missile boats are going to be or will we again see the traditional looking missile boats armed with longer range Uran-ME (which is also light & cost effective)?

Also, has there been any plans what so ever to have a VL & sub-launched variant of Urans?

    proof for what?

…proof that Syrian security men opened fire on unarmed protester for being trigger happy and for fun and was not in response to “sounds of gun shots” from the protesters side, which might have come from the ‘individuals’ firing at the uniformed men under the shield of unarmed protesters.

IMO, out of all systems, Maitri is the only one still stuck at drawing board and the chances of securing orders seem kinda low. Should MBDA and DRDO get their act together and dish up a reasonably OK system, it can be accommodated in the next purchase cycle should it not win the tender.

Mairtri was suppose to be based on the VL Mica, right? …..and VL MICA is already in solid form, so will it not be better to go for VL MICA initially and then carry forward the Mariti program…? It will shorten the lengthy process of tender and evaluating all the system and then coming to a preferred one.
