Another point to ponder whilst on the subject of Willis, havn’t we just launched the space shuttle for the last time, so even that could not be considered now.

    Lincoln .7

i think there are two more , wasn’t it the last launch of discovery ??

or even a coat of white paint on the sunward side – would be enough to do the trick.

Tornado 64. Mega bucks, if it needed a complete nut and bolt restoration job, welding cutting out the rust etc, taking into the initial cost of this rust bucket, have an educated guess as to roughly how much it would cost to bring it up to concours standard, and just to throw the proverbial spanner in the works, lets say a V/W dealer does all the restoration work, how much do you think it would cost?.

    Lincoln .7

it is top buck for a wreck but if baught by a garage restoration can be negligible

as most work is usualy free time work and any parts/consumables etc are purchased at trade rather than retail !!

so even at top buck he could theoreticaly if restoring them is his bag

get 1 the enjoyment of restoration 2 his own use and 3 recoup expendiature when comming to re sale

the fact it went so fast obviously says someone was prepared to pay !!

tornado 64. drifting slightly re prices of things, for several years I have passed a V/W Camper van with the split front screen in a front garden just been put up for sale. I looked at the bit of paper in the window giving details etc, motorway miles on the clock, no M.O.T. a total rust bucket, price, 23K,
And that went in a few days after being advertised. I know it is a cult vehicle, but think of the range of new cars one could get for that kind of money, phew!!

    Lincoln. 7

it was cheap !! the split windscreens go for real big bucks .

they go for that price fully restored but supply and demand can drop into it sometimes

if it is the only one presently available on the market in that condition and someone wants a from scratch project it will sell especialy if it is a garage owner that wants a project for himself that can loose a lot of the cost in his business

he then knows how the work has been carried out rather than guessing what is hidden ??

yes you could get a lot of new car for the money

but try getting more money back on a new car instead of loosing it in two years time !!

Kind of like the people who go on about gay rights who are actually straight – the gay friends I have take the p!ss out of themselves much more than anyone else could, .

very true i have had gay friends and i have been astounded at some of the facts learned ( my friend gets chatted up by more straight married guys than gays !! ) but his humour about it is second to none !!

also i have dissabillities and the biggest insulting place i went was on a dissabillities course but at the same time it was one of the most hillarious with everyone taking the **** out of each other

i work as a support worker for dissabillities

my present one to one client is in a wheelchair

we were in a club this saturday just gone when the singer asked if anyone wanted to dance

well he has a sharp wit and instantly shouted ” NO !”

the whole club was in hysterics !!

    I am no brit
but I just have to jump in with the obvious.

cutting your air force in this day and age to finance an essentially guerilla civil war is the d**best thing I have ever seen any one done.

couldn’t agree more !! it has always been an unwinable area !!

the russians threw about 4x’s the resources we have at it in the late seventies / early 80’s and retreeted because they were on a no win situation

in reality those that are friendly with us ( huh !! your joking ) once we leave it will be business as usual

and were dumb enough not to see it

but they are smart enough to see that as well as killing many of our personell they have also been a large part in killing our ecconomy

i’d draw them out tommorow and let them get on with it !!

we are always being told our security is at threat if we leave !!

it is odd that the only security problems we encountered were after we went in !!

I have been called many things over many years but I cannot recall feeling offended – I usually ignored the insult. If we are “offended” by the media, we can either turn the page or switch off.

holy cow !! if i took offence i’d have a list the height of blackpool tower

( and that’s just from one friend and in one week )
