it proves to me by the comments in this thread that few actualy have any knowledge on the homeless or even actualy speak to them correctly and on the level

so i’ll start with a few truths a lot of the addicts on the street would be very well off if not addicts we had a long chat to some one night whilst patroling

and amongst other things were told they had a £700.00 per week drug habit to suport ( you would be intrigued at thier inginuity how to get it too )

one of thier favourite scams was public phoneboxes ( ever made a call and not received your change ??? ) you were scammed !!

they used to get a small pen from the bookies block the change chute from giving change return later remove the pen and money

in one day we unblocked many and several times our days takings were £100.00 not including what they beat us to !!

you mention those wearing posh clothes ( don’t let that fool you !! ) charity shops receive some exceptionaly good clothes ( a lot of people just leave them on doorsteps when the shop is closed ) so the homeless on the street get first pick !!(irrelavent of brand !! )

also did it ever cross the mind what happens to trading standards confiscated counterfeit goods ( a lot end up with homeless charritys ) and some are better quality than the original items !!

i used to deal with addicts on the street regular a lot go on many failed rehab courses and when released are usualy given a set figure of money and a nice new set of clothes

one lad was very smart when he was being removed by fire and ambulance from an abbandoned factory with an hyperdermic stuck in his leg

the trouble with rehab is , if they go back to it afterwards 9 out of ten get the doseage too powerful ( some are lucky ) some i knew were not !!

the bare truth is you simply cannot let first appearances fool you with the homeless

course there may well be the odd one that stories tell you owns a nice car and lives in a nice house

but i certainly never met one and if one tried it on the genuine ones would see them off rapidly as it is effecting thier business !!

The difference is that this young bloke wasn’t asking for money, never mentioned cash at all and wouldn’t take anything when I offered to buy him something to eat.
I’m as sceptical as the next old dear but everyone seems convinced that he was trying to scam me out of something and IMHO he genuinely wasn’t.

sometimes just talking can be the difrence !! unfortunately a lot in society nowadays lack the skills necessary

i think it comes from easy modern communication

i find it ludicrous observing modern day folks

they email , phone , text , etc etc yet take the electronic hardware away and thier people skills for an actual face to face conversation are screwed

i can count on one hand since the advent of easy communication

the amount of people that can actualy hold meaningful conversations one to one with real live people!!

Is the stipulation of this season an automatic rule out, of other seasons shots.:)

i would imagine so as it doesn’t specificaly mention this years season , they more than likeley want specific 2010 images ( probably for promotional uses looking back at this season !! )

don’t quote me on that though !!!:diablo:

all of the above post is indeed correct

it can be one particular or a combination of all of the above

a lot of the time when aircraft are in closer i will go fully manual using predictive focus

a method where i predict where i want to shoot them focus on something the same distance away ( checking adequate depth of field ) then wait till they are in the correct area and shoot

i personaly find my nikons autofocus unreliable

depth of field is still an issue

but i’d also go for a panning / shutter speed issue to be your prime problem

no matter what you set the lens at i would still use a shutter speed equal to or greater than the lenses 400mm length ( especialy for panning ) it should still also give a little prop blur

also it depends on how panned if tou are on the inside of a circle whith them flying round you in a perfect arc it is relatively easy as everything stays equadistant

but as mentioned before in anything but that scenario things become tricky

not for no reason some of the best panning shots come from standing on the inside of corners at motor race circuits !!

Actually, I agree with the third or fourth comment below that article:

“Why are we using 28 year old aircraft?

    – Mike Jones, Storrington, 26/9/2010 11:27″

because they work and work well !!!

i drove a 40 yr old car because when it did break down it was fixable at the roadside , not on the back of a recovery truck main dealer only repair and huge bills like new cars

if it is reasonably simple technology and not time expired why not should be the real question !!!

some newer models can be worse than old models morris minor …. morris marina !!

it was probably more to do with paint pigments and cost than any other factor

black has always been a cheap to produce colour pigment , whilst almost always because of its nature is a fantastic covererer ( also when used over light coloured components ) it is easier to see where you have painted

white was an exceptionaly poor covering pigment until reasonably recently

the introduction of the superbly opaque ( titanium white pigment ) mostly in recent years

now means white is used more as it is a good coverer and cheep to produce

so probably merely as simple as that !!

No matter the budget cuts, Tory, Labour or the other lot in power….there is actually no need for anybody in the UK to be scrounging in the Street. The welfare system is the envy of the world (It costs us a fortune to upkeep of course) and there is provision for all. Of course, some of the homeless choose not to be involved with “authority”, their choice.

And that’s the opinion of my wife, a Local Authority Social Worker for 30 years, and a damn good one.

a total load of tosh !!

i actualy worked on the street with the real problem !!

a big percentage have mental problems /addictions

a loveley outcome from beurocrats thinking ” care in the community ” actualy works if you have no family support in todays britain

you have but two endings on the street or in prison !! a lot don’t fancy prison and try to keep out hence they are on the street !!

mental conditions include P.T.S.D. (again incidentaly mostly ex services ) for one and a whole list of others the absolute last people they want to see is some middle class pratt from an office that has absolutely no idea of why they are there and that think one size fits all cures exist

sorry it far from works out that way

there is one guy on the streets i stop and talk to regular you can give him a house , a regular income , and yadda , yadda

but you will never solve the problem unless you could magicly give him his wife and kids back !!

Does the required car resemble this ? pic taken at Little Gransden this year.

that’s refered to as a woody !! it is more of an estate or shooting brake !!

a tourer would be a convertible saloon !!

that’s if they are refering to it correctly

it will probably be tricky to fill the requirements ( although probably not impossible )

starting points would be enquiries to

    http://www.classicfordmag.co.uk

    feoc-uk.com

    http://www.movievehicles.co.uk

if they don’t have what you want maybe they will be clued up to where there is one or can pass you to others !!

millitary enactors may also be able to help !!
