no but they must come to terms with the fact , and take a reality check !!

we are now in a world that advertises skilled trade jobs at minimum wage rates because there are enough people trying to find full time work !!

we are no longer a land of plenty

the answer is simple either accept what is happening or try finding a job out in the real world that pays the same

in these parts jobs over £15,000 are as scarce as bacon sandwiches at barmitzphas !!

and at the end of the day it is those people that are paying to keep you where you are

try working with , no pension , no sickness , ( i was once expected to be in work within an hour of a car accident i had in the morning )

try being on minimum wage with no raise for over ten years ( a lot of companies employ very skilled people who were in very high paid jobs because there is no other work out there )

it is true there is plenty work out there , providing you want to work for minimum wage , part time , sometimes both combined

or work for agencies that rareley keep anyone on

it’s not said anymore but the attitude is the same as the early 80’s ” if you don’t like the work conditions , there are plenty out there that will ! “

it has to be said when i was in the public sector i can honestly say i never had to work a hard day to draw a decent wage nor did i have to do many hours to aquire it

whereas in the private some of the worst ones i worked for ( lets put it this way as a fit young lad of 25 i struggled some nights to walk home ) and i was in the terretorials at the time and did a lot of hill walking

i’m educated for the job is no longer a valid argument there are very many educated for higher things and can’t find work

but a lot realise reality and are happily working alongside minimum wage employees that receive no perks or pensions because they realise that that is the real world !!

They have done themselves few favours over the years, which is probably one of the resasons for falling memberships, now about half the level it was in 1979.

i would never throw my hard earned money away to a unioun again !!

my last observations of them was watching them faff and mess the owners of the engineering shop around so much that instead of possibly loosing a few staff 95 % of the workforce lost thier jobs ( some who had been there since leaving school till 3 yrs from retirement ) and they only left with the minimum government redundancy payout

the turkish were happy enough to be in work with no unions and no whingeing !! and that’s where the work went !!

you’ll find it is the oppinion of many , they will get little support !!

just before i found my present employment i saw a bricklayers job advertised paying minimum wage

wake up and realise the mess the country is in and the increasing future mess

and realise how fortunate you are to wake up and actualy go to work for a well above average paid job

i was chatting to a superb young lad the other day that’s trying to support a young family , he found work at the beggining of the year but things were so tight for the company the snow closed it down so he is out of work again

at least you can go back after staying off through being closed through snow !!!

all i can say after working for public sector jobs is how , cushy , well paid , with good conditions they are , even cut back they are still better off than those in private jobs

What you need to do i what I did – take out a massive loan and re-qualify in a new trade. ….

most things are on thier a**e , best you would probably end up with is trying ( in vain ) to pay a huge loan on jobseekers

i’ve worked in both public and private , try working in private areas and find out what harsh employment is !!

call centres are about the worst you are monitored and hassled all day with long hours and don’t e4ven ask to go to the toilet !!

i have worked till the skin came off my hands and bled with little sympathy from employers ( and that was only about 10 yrs ago )

i found the only thing unions ever did for me was lose me my job !!

if all you have ever done is work in the public sector you realy are not realising how fortunate you are

Guaranteed position? beg pardon, but I’ve just been forced to re-apply for my own job to include longer hours, more responsibility and less pay.

Naturally, I cannot comment on the following link, however it is in the public domain:
    http://www.ucu.org.uk/index.cfm?articleid=5545

considder yourself in a fortunate position then !!

a lot didn’t get the chance to re apply for any hours and are drawing job seekers !!

it realy makes my heart bleed

try being on jobseekers doing the daily grind of job hunting posting numourous letters to employers that don’t have the decency to reply with even a no thanks

whilst having £15.00 a week after bills to feed , clothe , and entertain yourself on ( if there was anything remaining after food shopping )

considder the option of unemployment before bleating how hard done by you are

because there are plenty more jobs out there that pay the same ( oops sorry forgot , there isn’t )

i do the same hours for half your pay !!

You haven’t read any of the article have you?

I actually think they are being more respectful, not less. I’ll bet not every family wants to see their loved ones paraded in public anyway. Dignity is the important word here and not allowing the repatriations to succumb to media-driven sensationalism.

funny the media cover armastice every year and that was for over 60 yrs ago !!

you can’t have it both ways !!

who the hell do these people think they are !!

at present a big percentage are struggling to even find work , my sister has not had a decent raise on a £12,000 a year job for ten years

most people in these parts would work all the hours god sends to support famillys on less than £ 20,000 with no pensions schemes ( or paying for thier own )

yet 7 yrs ago i worked in a primary school and the head was on £55,000 with guarateed gold pension

not only that but if you take a child out of school term time these self same people would be on your back for interupting a childs education

yet it is fair for them to do it to the nations kids

they should consider themselves fortunate to be in a pretty much guaranteed lucrative position shut up whingeing and get in to work !!
