Note that Italia is also one of the country with the leading aircraft manufacturer in Eu. If I was in MBDA I will certainly lean in that direction.

Times ago, DiD made a simulation game : F22 ADF (Air Dominance Fighter). The player had to fly a F22 Raptor over the horn of Africa in various scenario (including the rescue of Potus). Many of the scenario involved the vast Somalian deserts where opponents were incarnated by the Su27/35 and… Eurofighters or Rafale flown against the US forces by some Arabs nations.

Well that does not look so improbable nowadays. If you put all the racists arguments aside and that now, strategically meaning, the road to raw materials in central Africa are nearly cut for the Old Eu countries, tension might rise again to such extreem.

Input driven ctrl are not as popular as it seems among F16 pilots. Force driven seems to meet a better popularity.

The main advantage of the delta is the M2 capability, large surfaces for high alt flying (hence high speed flight with lower thrust requirement), higher thickness for ease of manufacturing and their superior behavior regarding trimming (hence far less drag than conventional design at the time).

The delta is inherently stable regarding Cl location at transonic regime. It means less trim drags, better acceleration, lower time to intercept and teh capability to disengage at will.

If you compare the climb rate of the I and the III you hve to keep in mind that III’s were fitted with spectra rocket pods in Fr and data’s for the type hve to be checked accordingly.

Delta’s have also a lot of OP disadvantage. Most hve been noticed alrdy in this thread.
