I would call my friends in Kiev and ask if I could take some equipment off their hands.

First, I would purchase as many Su-25s from Ukraine as they would let me. I would send these birds to Georgia (Tbilisi) and have them upgraded to the the Su-25km Skorpion with help from Israel (Elbit Systems). These Su-25km Skorpions would be armed with Python-5 WVRAAM and air-to-ground weapons from Israel and Russia.

Next, I would purchase An-72/An-74 transport aircraft from Ukraine. I would also work out a deal to be the launch customer for the An-70.

Next, I would purchase Mi-17/Mi-24/Mi-26 helicopters from Ukraine. These would be upgraded with Israeli (Elbit) systems.

Finally, I would purchase the SPYDER SAM system and Green Pine Radar Systems from Israel to defend my air space.

    Summary
    *Su-25KM Skorpion (Ukraine / Georgia / Israel)
    *Su-25UK (Ukraine / Georgia)
    *An-72 / An-74 (Ukraine)
    *An-70 (Ukraine)
    *Mi-17 (Ukraine)
    *Mi-24 (Ukraine)
    *Mi-26 (Ukraine)
    *SPYDER (Israel)
    *Green Pine Radar (EL/M-2090)

“The question is…is there any overlaps in the claims? I don’t know…just asking”

There is a lot of over laps. There are a lot of islands (just rocks sticking out of the water) that Greece and Turkey both claim. A great example is Greek fisherman landing on these islands and planting a Greek flag. Then Turkish fisherman will land on that same island and tear down the Greek flag and raise the Turkish flag. Then more Greek fisherman will land on that island and tear down the Turkish flag and raise there flag again. It is a never ending story with these two sides.

I started a thread about the Hamina Class a long time ago. This deal to get the Umokhoto SAM has been in the works for a long time.

Here is the old thread that I posted. http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=34415&highlight=Hamina+Class

The Umkhonto is a very advanced missile but wouldn’t the Swede’s want a longer ranged missile on their Visby Class Corvettes?

Wasn’t a SK Sea Dolphin sunk by a 85mm shell from a NK gun boat not that long ago. I thought I remember reading that in the news.

IMO the vulcan is a silly weapon to place on a gun boat. I would place an Israeli 30mm Typhoon mount up front, the Swedish / Fin AMOS twin mortar system aft, and two 40mm automatic grenade launchers.

The Swedes should have lengthened the Visby Class by inserting a section with a 32-cell RBS-23 vertical launch system between the bridge and the 57mm cannon. This would of made the Visby Class Corvette the best corvette in the world IMO.

“And now Nelson you are going to say that this is a picture of a pool somewhere else (videocaption from TV coverage on Severostal mentioned by dnjik)”

Do you see how the water is bubbling??? How many swimming pools have you been in where the water bubbles?? Maybe this Ruskie has terrible gas or more likely he is not in a swimming pool but a hot tub! A person is also able to swim laps in a swimming pool. The most anyone could do in this hot tub is chase their **** like my dog does!

“Typhoon really has a swimming pool on the board.”

No. Its a small room with a small hot tub and a small sauna for the captin to use. The crew does not have anything close to those luxuries on the sub.

I do not understand why countries continue to use laser guided bombs to sink ships. Taiwan tried this and failed as well. Why can’t they just use anti-ship missiles and torpedoes. These are the weapons developed for this type of action and would be used in a time of war.

It can not be that great of a system since Sweden will not buy the system and they created the system.

Is that a MD-900 helicopter on the back of the two Sierra class ships in post #12 or are they BO-105s? I think they are the MD-900s but the pics are too small for me to tell. How are the MD-900 performing in Mexican service ? I think the MD-900 is a great helicopter and wish it would get more export orders from more countries.
