Talking of Merlin power, not a colour you see every day. TE184 being dismantled in Oct 2006.

Louise Skidmore, part of the conservation team at the museum, said the Tornado was earmarked for display there for the next four years, after which it was hoped it would become a permanent exhibit.

Duxford based Vickers Supermarine Spitfire Mk.T IX(Modified)/PT462/(G-CTIX) in the markings of No. 253 (Hyderabad) Squadron, made it’s public debut today while passenger flying with Classic Wings. A very quiet day, flying wise, apart from the Classic Wings Rapide and Tiger Moths and their Canadian marked Harvard. The only other based war bird flying was the Stearman. With wall to wall cloud, lighting conditions were a bit naff for photography but the cross wind from the south did make for some interesting landings later in the afternoon. In the order taken.

Blue sky and sunshine brought a lot of war birds out to play. At one point there were four two-seat Spitfires sitting on the grass outside ARCo and three of them went flying. Later in the afternoon Duxford’s latest Spitfire resident, Anglia Aircraft Restorations Mk.Vc/G-IBSY, also went flying. HH-60G Pave Hawk 89-26208/LN of 56 Rescue Squadron from just down the road at Lakenheath did several circuits before parking up, with rotors running, while the passengers went off for a coffee. The Aero legends DH104 Dove 8/G-DHDV was doing a spot of crew training.

So why is it just people in the aviation industry that get vilified for wearing hi-viz while doing their job?

The ear defenders are physically attached to the hard hats and how many of them in the photos actually have the ear defenders over their ears?
Pick up your toys and put them back in your pram.

Still no word from IWM about what will be a major attraction over the Easter weekend.
Assuming Smash and Grab finish putting it together tomorrow and have all trucks and equipment out of the conservation area and the conservation area is open to the public, then IWM might get around to mentioning it.

But its not a Messerschmitt it’s an Hispano Aviación HA-1112-M1L. 😀

Despite a packed Duxford, cars and visitors mainly for the H&H Car Auction in AirSpace, it was reasonably quiet flying wise although there were quite a few GA’s types visiting. Two-seat Spitfire/PV202 did a couple of circuits in the morning and the T.20 Sea Fury went up for a longish flight in the afternoon. Some of the ARCo fleet in hangar 2 & 3 spent a brief time out in the sunshine while a couple of aircraft were extracted. In the order taken.
